We had read about and seen pictures of AutoCamp accommodations in the past and were always curious about what it would be like to stay in a classic Airstream trailer. When we decided to visit Palm Springs and Joshua Tree we checked it out and booked a 2-night stay.||There was ample parking. There were several Level 2 chargers for those driving EVs. When checked in there were several RadioFlyer-style rolling carts available out front to haul luggage to ones Airstream. We quickly found out this to be the exception rather than the rule. The spacious main lodge housed not only the reception desk but also the convenience store and “The Kitchen”. Checking in at reception was efficient. The giant Quonset-style main building was where breakfast and other meals were served. Pre-packaged meals for grilling were available. We never tried the latter.||There was an outdoor pool a few steps from the main building; even though the water was heated we did not go swimming as it was unseasonably cold. There was an outdoor living area with couches and large coffee table on which a Jenga tower had been set up; strong winds had knocked it down, however. Just beyond the main building complex a gas-fueled outdoor fire pit encircled by chairs was ready for use in the evenings.||Sadly I spotted only 2 Joshua Trees on the property, small ones at that.||Our Airstream was on the far side of the property. The sand / gravel road and paths would make it very difficult for most wheeled luggage hence the need for the carts. We had no issues securing one when we arrived but had to search for one on departure. ||Our Airstream featured an indoor shower; others offer an outdoor shower which would be fine in the hotter months of the year but would have been unusable at the time of our visit. It dropped to near freezing on all mornings; it even showed up in the national park one weekend. There was good water pressure and hot water. The bed was comfortable enough and the heater did keep us warm. Using the heater took some figuring out, though. There was enough space to move around inside.||The one thing that surprised us was how the Aistream rocked when struck by wind. It was disconcerting at first but we eventually got used to it.||We had clear skies the first night and while the site had some light pollution we got to enjoy a mostly clear view of the stars. There were a lot of planes passing overhead, leaving contrails that the wind eventually dispersed. The same wind at ground level also limited the time spent watching the stars.||One morning a flock (“kettle”) of turkey vultures formed overhead then eventually flew off to the east. We spotted a few Black-throated sparrows flitting between the shrubs.||We had an OK stay. It was definitely a unique experience to sleep in an Airstream trailer. We used AutoCamp as a base to explore the area and thus did not hang around to use the pool or cook meals on fireplace. This might have worked better during a warmer time of year, and perhaps with a group of friends, each with their own Airstream nearby. There would definitely be ample space for communal gatherings at this AutoCamp. We’re glad we tried it out but will most likely not be staying at an AutoCamp again.

We loved staying at Auto Camp Joshua Tree. It is only 10 minutes from Joshua Tree National Park. We love camping and being outside and chose one of the tiny cabins. It was perfect for the two of us and we did our grocery shopping before we arrived and cooked all our meals in the cabin and made lunches for our days in the park. ||The staff was very friendly and once we struggled to get our camp fire started and they sent someone over from facilities to light it for us. ||I would suggest staying a minimum of 3 days.||We plan on visiting other Auto Camp properties near National Parks based on our positive experience here. Auto Camp now partners with Hilton Honors, so if you are a Diamond member with Hilton you can use your points and dollars to book the property.

I visited Autocamp Yosemite twice over the last 5 years and had great experiences so didn’t hesitate to visit Joshua Tree Autocamp—but unfortunately, it didn’t live up to expectations. While the Airstream aesthetic is unique and the location is convenient (close to Joshua Tree National Park and within walking distance of shops and restaurants), the overall experience was disappointing.||There were a few highlights, like live music in the clubhouse and free yoga. However, the downsides outweighed the positives. || •Lack of Shade & Comfort: The grounds offered little cover from the intense sun.| •Food & Service Issues: The food options were underwhelming, and staff seemed stretched thin—front desk employees were also bartenders and restaurant staff.| •Kid-Friendly (Not in a Good Way): So many kids. And I found myself wondering how whole families fit into their Airstreams without murdering each other by the end of the trip. With all of the kids running around, I couldn’t fully relax and enjoy a drink or casually drop an F-bomb without feeling out of place.| •Privacy & Noise: While the property looks remote in photos, it’s actually close to a major road, and the layout doesn’t offer much privacy. It felt both exposed and somewhat confined at the same time.||Overall, I felt trapped in the heat with no inviting, shaded communal space to escape to—especially one away from the constant presence of kids.

Amazing Experience with Torin and Sarah!

Torin at the front desk and Sarah, the supervisor, were absolutely phenomenal. They went above and beyond to ensure our stay was perfect, offering exceptional service and warm hospitality.

If you're looking for a place to escape the hustle and bustle of the city, this is it. Relax, recharge, and disconnect from your phone while enjoying life’s simple pleasures. Highly recommended!

We had fun. You are camping, so it’s dusty and there are mice running around at night. But the airstreams are pretty comfortable, the air conditioning works well, the bathrooms are surprisingly roomy, and the bed is comfortable. The airstreams also have a microwave, refrigerator, and plates and utensils. We bought steak and chicken dinner packages - you cook the meat on the grill and warm the sides. Surprisingly good food. And the location is convenient to both the town and Joshua Tree national park. Again, it’s camping, so don’t expect a luxury experience. But it’s comfortable and fun.

We spent a couple nights here and it was perfect. There are a lot of commodities available at their front office. We had the steak package for the first night. The area is nice and quiet and dog friendly.

We stayed at Joshua Tree Auto Camp from for vacation. In the night of 1/23, we came back around 9:00 PM. And then we headed back to our room. But in the morning of 1/24 at around 9:00 am, we found a Christmas hat on the top of our car seat. And some small items in the car were moved around. I swear it was not us!!!We talked to the lobby manager, but she said we were not allowed to check the cameras. We are so worried about our safety. Thank God we didn’t leave anything valuable in the car. This is really creepy and this is definitely an invasion of our private space, especially at a popular resort like this. Be careful people!!

Rooms decently appointed but not well cleaned - previous guest must have had a dog. Location a bit blah for JT, no epic views. Roofed but open-sided meeting space not very usable in cold windy weather. HVAC programmed for ‘unoccupied’ mode during daytime hours, also less than convenient. I was there for a business event but would not stay on my own dime.
