Long story short, I booked a rental car but when I got to the counter at the airport there were no cars left. A week later I noticed that I was charged a fee from Hertz even though I did not get a car. I contacted Hertz directly but spent literal hours on the phone to no avail. One of the reps said that it was a cancelation fee then admitted that they knew that I tried to pick up the car!!!!

Even with this admission they refused to refund the fee!

How does an airport car rental company publish hours that they are closed at 5pm and you cannot speak to anyone at the airport after 5pm. I could not even leave a message - terrible customer support. The 1-800 number says they can add a note to my reservation but if everyone has gone home at the airport what’s the point?

Don't even try this Hertz location, every time I pick up the car, it has been dirty no cleaning at all what so ever! The car option is limited and not new cars! Very disappointing service. Was charged 10.99$ per gallon for fuel even though no one and no where it was disclosed to me.... go somewhere else

Update: I just did what you said and the Hertz customer service is not even close to definition of its word…. It’s a shame

I'd give zero star if I could. Decided to venture away from Enterprise because I saw the Tom Brady Hertz commercial. HUGE MUSTAKE. Booked a car from this location weeks ago, paid up-front in full online at the time of booking. Someone from the local airport location calls me as I'm boarding my flight into Roanoke and tells me they have no more cars so I'm SOL won't be getting the car I've rented and paid for when I land in about 1.5hr. I was offered zero explanation, zero accomodation, nothing. Extremely rude on the phone and I'm now I'm scrambling. This will be my first and last time ever trying Hertz. I STRONGLY RECOMMEND sticking with the Enterprise companies and avoid Hertz - or at least this location at all costs. Awful, awful, awful experience. 0/10 WOULD NOT RECOMMEND

When I reported and called lost and found for missing items they did not call back the first time, the second time they did and they did not find the items, which is very weird because it was for sure in the car. It was an expensive jacket and my insurance did not cover it. So that was not nice at all. Be careful..

I came in for my booking. I was told there were no cars. When I asked, what do you mean I have a reservation, they said “online reservations have no idea what we have and don’t they don’t communicate with us” I asked for a refund was told I’d have to call customer service. After being on hold for 45 minutes I was ultimately given a refund. This car service is absolutely not reliable.

Read reviews about Hertz and this location carefully as they do use their policies to avoid renting to you if they don’t feel like it.

I was in the process of helping out an individual who is currently having some life challenges. I booked the trip last minute to donate both my time and assistance to help this individual out. When I showed up at the Hertz location I was immediately treated like a criminal because I did not have return plans to this location even though I had booked a one way rental from this location.

After the individual on location was no help, I called Hertz and they provided reason after reason why they could not help me even though I had rented from them a couple weeks before. Their policies are more important than their customers! They won’t rent you the car they tell you they will if they don’t feel like it. I had driven 2 hours to pick up a car and was simply trying to help out another person but because I did not fit the customer profile they wanted to serve I was left to seek out other solutions.

If I were you, I would not bother with this location or Hertz. They are not in the business of helping customers solve problems but are in the business of picking and choosing who they will help even if you have a reservation. Hertz you should focus on your customer service which is wanting. Do right to your customers.
