On a recent road trip out of Birmingham, fate (aka, a cacophonous chorus from the back and side seats) led us to make a spontaneous U-turn that brought us directly to what turned out to be both a splendid opportunity and a hilarious misadventure.

The shopping experience turned out to be quite the expedition. We arrived looking for nothing in particular but left with several ‘essential non-essentials’.

Financially, it felt like hitting the jackpot—I saved a bundle on items that would have cost a small fortune elsewhere. However, in true thrift store fashion, I also made a 'donation' in exchange for these goods, a charming twist on the traditional shopping spree. Buying goods helps give clean drinking water to many places around the world.

So, if you ever find yourself in or out of Birmingham, consider making your own U-turn into Vapor Ministries. Whether by chance or choice, it’s a pit stop that promises—and delivers—a little bit of everything.

Jennifer the store manager and Taylor the cashier were very very rude. I am a frequent shopper here at this location and love the friendly faces. I pulled a bottom ticket off of the outdoor table, took it up to the register to pay for the item and I noticed that Jennifer had just walked from the area where the patio table sat. She was on the phone with someone and I guess they were trying to describe the table. So it looks like a customer was making a purchase over the phone. I had the bottom part of the ticket in my hand waiting to pay for item. Jennifer still had the phone in her hand on the phone with the customer during our entire conversation. I was informed that the sold was sold 20 minutes ago but I had been looking around for at least 20 minutes. Several people looked at table and the tag was still in place. I was told by Taylor that someone must have torn the entire tag off table which was not the case when I sent my friend a picture of the table. Jennifer and Taylor just caused Vapor to loose a loyal customer. I will definitely spread the word on Facebook about my experience. Vapor is labeled as a Christian establishment but these two works need a refresher on Christianity, customer service and integrity!

Be prepared for loud evangelical music and terrible parking situation. I have no issues with Jesus but man almighty, could you please take it down a notch?

Racks were hard to look through, prices were high for things like Ralph Lauren shirts w bleach stains, the selection was poor. Staff were friendly and nice.

As a thrift store I might have tried again if in the area, but as a blasphemously in your face expression of Christianity that sucks the air out of the room — no thank you. I hope their mission work is quieter, humbler, and less maniacal in ‘spreading the good news’ and this store does not reflect how they go about their mission work.

I was all hyped up about going here because it is always packed and there were a lot of good reviews. I was disappointed in the selection. The best options are right when you walk in and there wasn’t one thing besides a pair of shoes I would have considered buying. This is not a consignment type of store. I was only there for about ten minutes but I didn’t find any designer items besides really really used LV sandals.

Perhaps the best thrift store in the area. I've always found the neatest and most useful items here.

The staff is absolutely the best and the friendliest.
Stores are neat and organized.
Sometimes I drop by just to get some steps in and bemuse myself with their amazing selection.

[Despite the foreign charitable works (wish their focus was local only) and the in-store speaker music] Vapor Thrift is the best thrift store to shop at.

First time going and was very impressed with how clean and lovely it looks inside. It's 2 miles from our house (we just moved to Birmingham) and needed to donate some items and find some things for our new place. It's very well organized. They do have shopping carts and shopping baskets. There are restrooms. I even found a small maternity section. I definitely will be going back. Also found that they do test a lot of electronics and will put on a "tested" sticker. I bought a small lamp for my son's bedroom. The cashier said keep the receipt since the lamp has been tested and I can bring it back of there is a problem. I did test at home to make sure and the lamp does work.

Great place to shop for brand name clothing at a great price. We had the pleasure of working with Jenifer today working on a price decision. She was very fair and she didn't have to be. Thanks Jenifer.

The best 2 ND hand store I've been to in a very long time. Clean! Clean! They even have coffee, hot chocolate, apple cider. Great quality of merchandise. Purchases go toward helping people in Africa..
