Papa is the only good thing about this rental I guess. He greeted customers with a smile, answered all questions patiently and was quick. I got a good deal on the rentals, but had to return the first car as it was wobbly at just 10mph. The second car was good but later realized the tire pressure was not set, they were at 27psi instead of recommended 35. The rotor was warped causing vibrations in steering column upon braking. The insides weren’t clean, coffee spills in speaker holes and in the 2nd row.

Terrible experience as this company is committing fraud. I returned my vehicle one hour earlier than scheduled (at 5pm local time), no agents were anywhere to be found so I left the keys in the dropbox as the sign stated. I was charged an additional $100 for “returning the car the next day.” I called Thrifty several days ago asking for them to check their cameras to confirm the time it was returned and refund me the incorrect added charge but still have not heard back from the manager to fix their error. On top of that, the gas tank wasn’t full upon receipt and there was a maintenance light on at time of pickup. I would never recommend this company to anyone and will be following up with someone at a higher level to correct this absurdity.

Booked online for 8 hour car rental. Got a quote of $218 which is still insanely ridiculous for 8 hours. Dents and scratches all over the car. No one was helpful on where to go or how to get out. Got charged for a refuel fee even though the tank was full. Got charged for extra insurance even though I denied it and had proof of my own. Ended up being $298.17 for 8 hour car rental. Do not recommend. Go down the street to Anchorage Express and rent a car. Not worth it at all.

The reservation was booked for a specific rate and when we arrived at the counter they conveniently tried to charge a different rate. Fortunately we had our confirmation of the reservation so that worked out. The worst part is we left a pair of Beats headphones in the car when we returned it and we immediately called to try to retrieve it. No one answered at the front desk and then 9 hours passed (9 pm - 6 am) so when we were finally able to reach a live person we got the runaround from them. Nothing in the lost and found, car supposedly had been re-rented but no offer to reach out to the current renter to see if something was in the car when they got it. Unhelpful service and beware of the rate you'll be charged to make sure it matches your initial reservation rate and sweep the car before you leave because they won't really assist at a minimal or reasonable level. Don't recommend booking with them.

Least helpful service. Nobody answers the phone and it looks like the central customer service number also doesn't have any way to help with any ongoing reservation. Personally wasted a lot of time just to get basic help with an ongoing reservation. Will never rent from Thrifty! Looks like they are a private entity. The phone number on the reservation contract doesn't work and the reservation is not accessible by the central help desk. Had to drive a few hours, waste time and fuel just to get some help. Way to ruin a vacation!

The car was fine, once we got through the check in process. I gave this 3 stars because when we arrived, there were a lot of people in line, waiting for their cars, but only one person managing all 3 desks-Thrifty, Hertz, and Dollar. After waiting about 15-20 minutes, another associate joined him and they were finally able to begin processing the lengthy line of renters.
The Budget rental desk, on the other hand, rarely had a line as they were fully staffed with 3 front desk attendants.
The wait was unnecessary as most of the reservations were associated with incoming flights, so they should have been aware of how many cars would be going out at that time.

This was a horrible overall experience..

First the lady at the desk her name was Crisanta she was rude and not helpful at all no apologies or anything the entire time…

So when we arrived to anchorage we ourselves made a mistake and scheduled a day earlier for pickup so when we got there they said they could not honor it ok that’s understandable I get it.. so she said we can still get you a rental which is great news she quoted me a “managers special”which like $800 something okay we will do it.. but right when she was about to finish she said ohhh it’s going to be $1100 I’m sorry what?! She said that’s the actual price and that it can’t change for the amount of time I want the vehicle frustrated as I already was I said okay but right when I was about to put my card in she said there’s going to be a $250 as well umm okay is there anything else I should know?! Luckily the $250 deposit is refundable after 3-5 days I guess but there was nothing that said something about that…

For the final straw after I was returning the vehicle I told her I’m going to be returning the vehicle around 3:00am because I have an early flight back she said thats fine only to come to the back to the desk and no one’s there?! Nothing is posted saying saying for after hours returns or anything like that and the lady didn’t tell me either about this which would be really nice to know… I had to scramble around and finally found the location for the after hours drop box to drop off the keys but even then this whole thing was messed up from start to finish I would not recommend this place at all… and I try to call them to speak to someone about the experience but no one EVER answers the phone!!!!
