I had a rental car reservation at this Hertz location for 8:00 AM. I arrived to find the location closed. When someone finally arrived, they told me my car wasn't ready and I'd have to wait.

I received zero proactive communication. Repeated requests for updates were met with a robotic, unhelpful "it's not ready." No apology, no explanation, no urgency.

I finally got my car at 9:40 AM – almost two hours late. This made me late for work and caused significant stress. The car itself was functionally okay, but there were stains in the cupholder, adding to the impression of a lack of care.

This service was unacceptable. A reservation should mean something. Customers deserve communication and basic courtesy, not a dismissive attitude. I will be reconsidering using Hertz in the future and advise others to be cautious about this location. I wasted a significant amount of time.

I have to report the lady staff at this location to Hertz. Very rude person with unprofessionally disrespectful attitude. Made me wait over there for one hour for no reason while she was playing with her phone. I was trying to trade the car that I had and both vehicles were ready at the location parking in front of me but she decided to ignore me and my time. She told me go sit over there till my coworker comes back and he was stuck in traffic. After he showed up, he told me ask her to trade the cars for you and I told hime why she waited me here for more than hour?!!! He said I don’t know and left.
Non of these employees apologized and caused me loose my doctor appointment. This is for you lady “if you don’t know how to treat customers, then you shouldn’t sit at the front desk “ If I was your employer, you would be fired long time ago.

The place is absolute trash with the very rude manager.
We went to pick up the car with a reservation. The manager made us to wait for more than hour only to give us a car that had one of the tires ruptured. We called out the issue only to get a different car that was extremely unclean.
We said no to that car as well and the manager behaved very rude and told us that he don’t want to provide any vehicle to us.

We also met a couple of other customers who were completely unsatisfied with the way they were treated for the cars that are not clean.

Wouldn’t recommend booking a car at this place.

Bay Area Mechanical

Avoid this company. We reserved a full size SUV 2 weeks in advance and when we arrived were told our vehicle was not available and the mini van they planned on giving us was broken. No one bothered to call us and we wasted 50 bucks round trip on Uber rides. Was given the option to wait an hour to possibly get a similar vehicle. Opted to cancel but the manager could not cancel our reservation. So was given a number to call. Spent 45 minutes on hold before finally talking to an agent that canceled our reservation. We now need to wait 7-10 days for a refund and they could not provide a cancellation confirmation. Total waste of time and delayed our trip. Will never use Hertz again.

Absolute trash location. The weekday hours say they open at 8am, but when I got there it was closed. At 8:30, an employee casually opens it without saying a word. Then I show him my reservation for a minivan which I made a week in advance, and he says it’s not available. He also doesn’t know if and when it will be available. He refuses to provide an alternate vehicle. He also refuses to rebook the same car at another location saying they don’t call within agencies. Never renting again. The presidents circle status is worthless.

We rented thru a special app deal for EV car from 07-26/29. This location doesnt have any EV or sedan car for us to pick up so they gave me a 2-door Dodger which would eat gas and thats we decided to switch another EV vehicle at SJ airport . They gave us a Kia Niro SUV car at SJ airport location then the car was eating battery like crazy and couldn’t charge fast at all at all fast charge stantion (took us almost an hour to charge full for only 200 miles). We were super late for our meeting agenda so i had to switch to an sedan BOLT at Pasadena location and the car worked great. UNTIL….we have to drive back to SJ and now we couldnt charge the car at all (its battery outlet is broken). With 98 miles left on the car we were able to drive to LAX location and beg them for a gas sedan because Herzt roadside emergency couldnt help me out and will charge me 200$ out of pocket to help tow the car. When I returned the car at this location, the employee said that they would mark my receipt to manager to let them speak to me BEFORE closing the deal. I was late for work because of this inconvenience and receive a warning from my boss. Now, they close the contract and we were not helped with these issues:

-No calls made to follow up BEFORE closing the contract. The branch manager said they will call our driver who booked the car but they never did.
-We was charged FULL gas tank despite what were promised to us (which is almost 100$).
-We don’t even ask for any compensation for our inconvenience (we were super late for a corporate meeting down in socal). But now because of the lack of customer service and professionalism i received, i started to think i deserved one.

I think manager at this location could do better. We spent ridiculous amount of $ for gas-electricty charge for this trip and all we wanted is just a proper amount charge on the contract but now we think we deserve better compensation.

Lazy staff, had me waiting over there for an hour which didn’t need to. Lady told me I’m waiting for someone to get the car for you but the was parked outside since I got there. Unbelievably disrespectful , never go to that branch again.

I normally have high ranking and respect for Herzt as they are renowned brand in the rental car industry. But thisnranking 1 star is for my particular experience i just recently went thru. I know things happened. But this is just draw my limit for me to call for attention.

They said i could trade the vehicle at any location and they already marked my gas level to return at 25% to compensate for the inconvenience (this is IMPORTANT detail if anyone from Herzt corporation read this comment). -I called customer service from Herzt and they said that only my original location can adjust the bills. I spoke to all herzt location including this one at almaden, they said I should speak to the billing department from Herzt. All have been a merry-go-around experience.
