Been going here for awhile albeit I have a high tolerance for slow service and I understand airport and larger Hertz locations are more efficient, take membership status seriously, and have more inventory. For those reasons I give this location 2 stars. Unfortunately they do not make up their shortcomings with exceptional customer service. They need training on simply just greeting customers as they walk in and providing them wait times. There will be a long wait even if only one customer being service. Lastly and most important, make sure to inspect the vehicle thoroughly and point out even very minor defects. There was a minor scuff mark on the rear red reflector on the driver side bumper and when I returned my rental this was pointed out to me as damage. The pictures taken before I drove off the rental lot does not prove or disprove there was a scuff mark. But even then, I have never had any rental company look at reflectors for scuff marks. Mind you this is not lights, reflectors are just a piece of plastic located on bumpers to reflect at night. Fortunately the manager new better than to try to charge me for damages. Highly disappointed at this location because everywhere else Hertz has been efficient, quick, with very little staff interaction.

Upon entering, the location feels hostile. Employees are not friendly at all and there’s two desks in a giant space. Feels unwelcoming. Additionally I had a 2mm windshield chip which they said wouldn’t cause any issues. A month later I get the bill for $1k. What’s funny is they charge for diminished value and the full cost to replace the windshield. Definitely scammy vibes out there. Even though I have presidents circle with Hertz, their treatment was horrible. Would suggest to go to another rental car company.

When I initially picked up the vehicle, I noticed some scratches and asked if scratches were an issue, the answer that was given to me was that only dents and major accidents were an issue.
On my trip, I needed to drive on some dirt roads.
When I returned the car, the Hertz employee said that I must have been off-roading, and I must have left the windows down because the inside was dusty. My 2 choices were to get the car washed or pay a 200 cleaning fee. They recommended a car detailing service.
After I got the car washed, the same employee points out a scratch on the car, that was there when I initially rented the vehicle.
I knew I did not do those scratches because I saw them earlier, but I have never had such a terrible experience returning a rental car where I am asked to get the car wash then am accused of scratches that were already there. The scratches (which I did not do) were not a problem when I picked up the car, but now when I’m returning it, they are? And I have never had a car rental ask for their car to be washed before retuning or I would be fined 200, it’s ridiculous.

Don't take the reservation if you don't have the car. When we came in to pick up the car we had reserved, not only did they not have any cars but the guy behind the counter was very rude, acting like we were stupid to think they would have one.

Shady people to avoid at all cost. False information given to purchase insurance, staring my insurance will cover cost. My insurance informed me that in fact they do not. Went back within the hour to take off insurance. They informed me they will credit me for the charge and never does. Went back the second time and the manager said he’ll contact corporate and reverse the charge and again never does. Do not deal with these deceitful people!!

I made a reservation through my company. Was a little late and there was a sign that they were at lunch. I returned when they reopened and was told they have my reserved car away. Offered me an electric vehicle but I have no experience with those vehicles. I went with Budget down the road.

Hertz has to be thee WORST car rental in history. Problems with their website. When you call to resolve an issue their phone hangs up on you if they even answer the phone at all. I DO NOT RECOMMEND.
I apologize this was not at the Duarte location. It was with one of the hundreds of 800 numbers Hertz has and the website. I would not write a review like this without going in person first to resolve such a thing. I apologize for my mistake.

Only reason I gave as many stars as I did is because the guy helping me felt so bad about how much was going wrong on their end that he gave me a free upgrade and was incredibly patient and nice.

I spent hours here trying to pick up my car rental. Their system was down for forever with no end in sight. On top of that, my rental cost went up because I originally was supposed to pick it up the night before at 6:00. Apparently they close at that time . I was a little confused why the online system would allow me to choose a pick up time for closing hours when no one is there and subsequently lose my reservation. The thing is though, I realized this on my way there (before they were closed) I called over 20 times on my way there well before they closed and no one picked up. I lost my reservation without being able to speak to someone about it because either they were extremely busy or they closed extremely early. I got there 10 minutes early and the doors were locked, lights off, with no one in sight and no one answering the phone. My rental went up about $150 dollars because of that. In the morning when I went back after dealing with customer service to re-do my reservation (they wouldn't allow me to keep my original price) the system was down for 4 hours and I couldn't re-reserve at another place since they wouldn't let me keep my reservation price here either... It was a mess.

As I said, other than all that, the man helping me was so incredibly nice and felt so bad for everything, he did what he could to make my experience as pleasant as possible. I greatly appreciated and wish I could justify giving even more stars for the rest of my experience.
