I my opinion. Big 5 Sporting Goods rates somewhere around 3 out of 5 Stars or a Grade of C+.
These are reasons why I shop at Big 5 periodically. 1) They are the nearest Chain Sporting Goods store by about 5 miles. 2) Their location provides quick & easy access to the Highway. 3) I am doing other shopping at stores close to Big 5. So there is certainly a logistics and convenience factor for me. 4) They support a somewhat diverse array of sports. So there is a decent chance of them having something Im intending to purchase. 5) They do sell some fire arms and permits. Not a big selection. 6) They also sell a variety of blades and axes for hunting and camping. Again, pretty average equipment. For my Sporting Goods Store preference. I definitely prefer a couple local Sporting Goods Stores over Big 5. They are a little bit smaller privately owned shops. They are perhaps smaller but are also more specialized. They carry higher quality products. For me, the greatest plus about these stores. Is that the owners are there regularly. They are so knowledgeable about every product In their store. They are well versed about all sports and sports activities in their community. Same goes for their employees. They themselves are sports enthusiasts themselves. They truly care about their customers and their communities. You get to know them well and they get to know you. They may be smaller but in many more ways. They offer the customer far more than Big 5 Sporting Goods ever could. Now if you are looking for large variety and more options. If you perhaps have some basic questions that you need to ask. If you do some or all of your sporting goods shopping on line. The larger Sporting Goods Chain Stores will be of much greater service to your needs than Big 5 as well.

Good selection with good prices. The old guy at the register was NOT nice and kept being mean to the other employees to get them to do his job and was downright rude to my fiancé trying to get her email address. He consistently made other customers uncomfortable while we were there. I think his name was Anthony. This could have been 5 stars but he ruined the visit and part of our day together.

October 12th 2022. As soon I got into the store the staffs were complaining about the challenge that they did before I got there. They were talking about them eating this one spicy chip challenge (while on duty) and talking about their experience in front of the customers. I am there to to buy boxes of ammo but no one was available to assist us. One customer was waiting for her gun safety test to be checked. I asked for assistance from the person behind the cashier but his respond was that the staffs that works behind the ammo and gun Department were on lunch break due to the challenge. He then asked me if I can wait until he finish his lunch break or I can go out and come back. I walk out then I saw two big five staff in the parking lot drinking water, milk and looks like their mouth was burning from that challenge they were talking about inside the store. I was disappointed because they have so much items on sale that I was interested to buy beside boxes of ammo.

The customer service in this store is horrible. My husband, daughter and I went in to purchase soccer supplies for my daughter and not one person greeted us with a “hello” or even bothered to ask us if we needed help. You could barely even find an employee out on the floor. Also, when we went to check out the sales associate had a rude attitude and was not welcoming at all. I’ve been in customer service since I was 18 years old and I was always taught to be welcoming, kind and accommodating to all who entered the store. Furthermore, I never write reviews so it has to be bad to get me to even write one. The manager either needs to do a better job at training his or her employees or all need to be fired and they need to start over with better ones.

The service was just okay. You would get help if you looked for it. Lots of items without pricing on them. There were sales promised online that were not there in the store.

This place always has good sales, helpful staff and a nice clean parking lot. Sign up for their daily emails, which always come with great daily deals at amazingly low prices. You can find pretty much anything you need to have a great outdoor experience. Hi to their lovely manager, she's awesome!

We had a complicated return. Staff did everything to try to accommodate us - finding a possible replacement model, contacting their service center, and ultimately working through a refund...and they were busy that day, too. High marks for customer service!
