Took my truck in for a Dyno tune after installing a BTR Camshaft and could be happier! It was my first time ever taking my truck to a Dyno and Jim made it an easy, Comfortable and fast experience. Very knowledgeable and truck runs better than it ever has HIGHLY RECOMMEND.

They performed a smog-legal LS swap on my 1990 Blazer, and it passed the referee inspection and is completely legal to register and drive. The attention to detail with the wiring, and cleaning up existing wiring was top-notch. They also found solutions to utilize the internals of the transmission I purchased with an alternate case to not have to adjust the stock mount point of my transfer case. There were also some minor issues with a power steering and trans dip stick gasket leak, which they fixed at no additional charge after pick up. The engine and transmission run well, and are a fantastic upgrade at a reasonable price compared to other quotes I had received. From a technical perspective, I would give the shop 5 stars.

The reason for a lower rating is primarily due to the amount of time it took to complete. I originally waited 6 or so week for drop off to ensure there was room, and space in the schedule to complete the swap in 4-6 weeks per the original estimate. Two months after dropping off, I called to check progress, and I was told 4-6 weeks from that point. I would call and check in every month since then, and the estimates switched to two weeks each month I called. My vehicle was there a total of 11 months for a 4-6 week original estimate.

In summation, the work is very high quality, and they know how to perform smog legal swaps at a competitive price, but the time estimates may not always be accurate, and you may have to wait some time for completion. Overall, I am satisfied with the work performed, and would recommend them for anyone who is looking for an affordable engine swap, but is not in a rush for completion.

Jim has been doing my tunes on my toys for 10+ years. I moved to Norcal 2 years ago and still make the 5 hour drive to Bakersfield to get my tunes done here.

Fine tuned my silverado and motor is running great. Dont waste money on programers and superchips. Just come here and Jim will take care of you.

He did a poor job on my 2014 gmc v8 5.3 liter engine. I was recommended by a friend and the tune he did would just make my truck burn out in first gear, second gear didn’t have no power. I also got a cold air intake off of him which was good and headers. Then Jim recommended I put a different torque converter which then made my truck run really poor.
I ended up going to a shop that tunes awesome in Santa Clarita Ca. They showed me the tune and said my air and fuel ratio was totally off and asked me right away who had tuned it. I’ve never switched shops again

Took a project car I had bought to get worked on. Car sat for a year and was never touched. Bugged the shop for 4-5 months and every time they told me "we've been busy, we'll start on it this week" no updates. Picked it up and found a dent on the vehicle as well that was not there prior to taking the car to the shop. Lots of business came and went in the time my car was sitting. I have heard lots of other bad experiences as well. Do not recommend this shop at all.

Jim and his crew will definitely have my business. Not only did they do a great job on getting my truck done, Jim saved me a bunch of coin. The first shop I went to where live 2 1/2hrs away wanted to charge me an arm and leg. so a friend of mine said give Jim at Calspeed a call see if they can help. Did they ever, they got the job done and in short time. Like I said Jim and his crew saved me coin. very pleased with the service too, Jim took the time after hours and on a weekend to meet me at the shop and pick up my truck because it was better for me and I wouldn't have to take off work durning the week. That speaks volumes in my book. Thanks again Jim and calspeed.
