This morning, I took my car to CB Chevrolet to have some OEM splash guards installed. Unfortunately, the experience was disappointing from the start. They didn’t bother to clean the areas where the splash guards were installed, and even after their “courtesy car wash,” there were visible rain and road splashes coming from underneath the guards. To make matters worse, one of the splash guards had a noticeable gap where it should have been flush with the body.

They also didn’t use a paper mat protector, so the driver’s mat ended up filthy with mud from someone’s shoes or boots. I pointed out both the gap in the splash guard and the muddy mat to the service specialist. Initially, she claimed the gap was intentional until I showed her the opposite side, which didn’t have the same issue. They eventually took the car back, fixed the gap, and cleaned the mat. When they returned the car, it had a paper mat protector this time.

However, when I got home, I had to remove all the splash guards to clean underneath them properly. That’s when I noticed one of the mounting screws wasn’t even attached to the body—it was just hanging in midair.

Overall, this experience was incredibly disappointing. It’s clear that this business takes little pride in the quality of their work.

Time to find reasonable cost. Took my brand new truck in because the engine light was on. They removed the two deer warning whistles I put on. Took them FIVE minutes to peel them off, they charged me $225. Nice enough to knock off $24 from $249. Been doing business with this Chevy dealer for decades, spent thousands of dollars with them and they couldn't call this FIVE minutes a loyal customer break. Where has good business gone?

Great experience with the purchase of my new Equinox EV. The salesperson was knowledgeable and helpful, without being too pushy. The 4 stars versus 5 is due to the extended time it took to get the paperwork completed for the EV tax credit, not their fault, but it was a bit of a drag.

Pricing was very straightforward, no haggling or back and forth games I would recommend buying a car here.

The service dept. will try to rob you, so verify, and get a second estimate. This service department is why dealership service centers have such a poor rap, and are untrustworthy.
My son, a freshman college kid, had an appt. last week (12/16) to have his check engine light and an airbag light checked out. My son contacted me, stating that they wanted 500 up front before they would even look at the vehicle. It sounded weird, I asked him if he had a workorder or invoice to show me, which he did not. He stated that the Service Advisor, Enrique did not give him one, however he called an made an appt. with the AG Chevy Dealership, and that they were a few hundred bucks less.
It all sounded weird to me, so I called the CB Chevrolet, and spoke with the Service Mgr, Tony. I'm aware that teens lack integrity, as do service departments, and this is one of them. I spoke with Tony to clarify the process. I could not understand why the service advisor would let a customer leave without a workorder or invoice of the repairs, costs, along with a few thousand dollars of potential revenue. I was also perturbed that the vehicle was not getting fixed that day, and why they would require up front payment to diagnose the service lights. Tony explained to me that they charge $249 for the check engine light, along with an additional $215 for the airbag light. He also explained to me that the check engine light may be a warranty item, and he would receive that money back or put towards repairs. I even advised Tony that my son had already contacted the Arroyo Grande Chevy Dealership for an appt. and that their costs were far different, and that they would not require for him to pay up front. Tony assured me that their labor rate was the going rate and that this was the normal process. Tony also explained that he was a father of college kids himself, understood my concerns, and would love to have my son return. I advised Tony that he would not return, as AG Chevy won't require prepayment and saves the kid nearly $300 in diagnostic fees.
My son dropped of the vehicle at the AG Chevy. They did not require him to pay upfront, their diagnostic fee the was only $192.77! They contacted him later in the day to advise him that the check engine light issue was a warranty item, but the airbag would require repair. He picked up his vehicle that day, $850 in specialty parts were ordered (and paid for) in regards to the airbag. Labor would be an additional $550, though paid after the repair.
Today, 12/23 the vehicle is being repaired, my son has copies of work orders.
I again contacted Tony at SLO Chevy. I explained to him how the process went with dealing with the AG Chevy, and I was perturbed that it seems that they were trying to "rip" my kid off. He did make a feeble attempt to backtrack and stand up for his employee Enrique. He again explained their process. I didn't allow him to get to far as it began to lack integrity. I was curious as to why the service advisor did not give my son documentation, as Tony himself claims they require a customer signature. If my son did sign documentation they should have such on file. I was also curious why Enrique made contact with my son twice, the second being when he was leaving, and had spoken with me. I was curious, would they not have video, from cctv or security cams. I was also curious as to why their costs were so much higher that that of a dealership less than 14 miles away, same county.
It didn't end well, but Tony was fairly pleasant, as was I, but I do not like being lied to. I also do not like my son being taken advantage of nor others. None of this was a misunderstanding as I would not have taken the time to even speak with Tony, and I clarified with Tony multiple times of their process that day.

I would not recommend the CB Chevrolet Service Department. A vehicle being down for 2 days, $1500 in repairs for the airbag that we pay, and however much the warranty works requires should give anyone pause before you deal with a service department.
