Nathan was very personable and helpful throughout the entire process. Painless as can be. Had a car issue and Nate was out there super fast and gave us an upgrade. One word FANTASTIC! Mike and Cindy, the owners, were absolutely wonderful. The cheapest rental cars in Anchorage. They were friendly, helpful, and honest. I left Alaska feeling I have made lifetime friends. I was lucky to get the very last car after I realized there were no rental cars available from the "big" companies. It was ok and served the purpose. A few hours after leaving the rental car place, Cindy called me to inform me that they had a better car available later in the day and that I could return mine for that one. It was much nicer. Definitely do not get that type of personal care from the big rental car places. The finishing touch of a wonderful trip happened after returning the car, their son took me to the airport. A little note about the "big" rental car companies, i,e, those at the airport, in Alaska...a reservation does not always guarantee a car. If you are going to Alaska, you need a car, unless you have your own plane or helicopter...good luck parking those. I ran into some angry tourist during my stay that had reservations months in advance. When they arrived into town at the airport, they found that there were no cars available. The rental car companies take a first come, first serve approach since there are so many people visiting Alaska in the summer months. I strongly recommend you rent a car from Mike and Cindy!!! Can't wait to visit Alaska again and will be renting from them.

Worst rental place I’ve ever been to. Mike is the most disrespectful salesman I have ever dealt with.. I’m new to Alaska and needed a car to get around with until I got A new car so I went to cheapwheels. When I got there their machine didn’t work but he said it would be up the next day and he would charge my card then so he took my information and told me he would give me a call the next day to do paperwork. Gave me the keys and then I went to take a look at the car. I came back inside to ask a few questions. About the rate and price .. he instantly got an attitude, threatened to take the car back and accused me of saying he didn’t know what he was doing when all I wanted to know was how much the rental was going to cost me for the time I needed it. He then said “I don’t need your money I probably make way more money then you. We don’t need your business “ then proceeded to pull out money from his coat pocket and flash it saying “this is play money. Money I just walk around with” He tried to belittle me for asking a simple question that anyone would have wanted the answer too. Literally how much am I paying for your vehicle..

After reading positive reviews about this place I decided to rent from CheapWheels to save a few bucks. Huge mistake! I booked a car with them for a 9 day vacation during which my family and I planned to do a good amount of driving around the Kenai Peninsula. We went with them because they were a couple of hundred dollars cheaper than the big companies and I didn't mind driving a used car, figuring that the cars were in safe working condition. What I got was not in good working condition. It was a lemon- a 2008 Ford Fusion with 150,000 miles on it and in horrible condition. The steering was misaligned and broke to the right unless you held onto the steering wheel with the grip of death, the steering wheel rattles, it stinks like cigarette smoke and dirty dog, it's dirty, has torn seats, and had a tire inflation warning light that they said was just an electrical error to disregard. After half a day we decided we did not feel safe driving the car through remote areas for fear of breaking down and called to tell them that we would be returning the car because of the problems listed above. Nathan offered to put us in another car but we figured if they had a car in good working order wouldn't they have put us in it in the first place? We didn't want to waste more of our vacation dealing with junk cars. We politely declined and booked a car with Enterprise. When I brought the car back he again offered me another car and I told him we had already rented another car. At that point he told me he was going to charge my credit card $500, half the rental balance. We argued for a while, he admitted that this happens all the time and that we signed the contract and therefore are responsible for the balance. I have a call into my credit card company and hopefully will not be charged for the time we did not use the car. Cheap wheels are one thing, these guys are crooked and shady. It should be noted that we only spent $140 more for the enterprise car and got an Altima with less than 4,000 miles.
