Just got around to taking our boat out after Ken’s repairs to our outboard drive shaft and propeller. This review is a year in the making!

Ken and his crew at Custom Boat Works were awesome! Very personable and professional. Repairs were done ahead of schedule and costs were fair and reasonable. Boat runs better than it did before the accident; maybe the best in 15 years!

Ken saved my boat! He is knowledgeable and a very nice man, he went beyond the call of duty to make sure my engine was saved when my boat submerged at Lake Shasta.. in top of repairing any engine damage he also added some upgrades needed since it is a 1959 Chriscraft … thank you to Ken and his staff for all he did!!!

Ken Luke is a horrible excuse for a mechanic. I took my boat in to have some work done in the spring of 2020. He had to pull the engine and outdrive off the boat and when he went to re-assemble, he couldn't remember how to put it all back together. The boat leaked, overheated and stalled due to his lack of knowledge and failure to check his work carefully. Wiring was wrong, parts that worked before taking the boat in didn't work afterwards and worse, he sent me out for a water test and only had two nuts out of six holding the outdrive on. He changed my oil and not my oil filter, yet he charged me for the filter. He told me I needed new parts that suddenly weren't working and found out (after showing him a picture of the motor prior to him disassembling it) that he wired it incorrectly. After three failed water tests, each time assuring me that things were properly repaired, he began blaming the issues on the age of the boat. In the end which was over three months later, he called me an expletive and told me that he wouldn't finish the job. I paid for a complete job, and even though he had parts still on order, he didn't offer to credit me back for the parts that he failed to install. Steer clear of this shop! You WILL be disappointed. Very unprofessional.

This shop does very good work! Took my old 1981 StarCraft in for a tune up and it now runs almost like new! They charge pretty standard rates for high guality service!
