Bought a couple motors from this place. They didn’t have any 250 mercurys available during Covid so I had to get what I could by driving long distance. I called about servicing my motor and the guy on the phone asked if I bought it there and I said no. He said take it where you bought it then. I said no problem pal.

February 1, 2024. I drove up to Ed's Marine today (45 minutes away from where I live and work in Midlothian, VA) to pick up my new 2023 Road King tandem axle RWS2022TBI and I did not have a pleasant experience. I spoke with the salesman David on 1/29/24 about this specific trailer and I told him what I was looking for and that the one advertised on their website which had leaf spring suspension and Transom tie down hooks on the bunks was not what I wanted. I specifically told David that I "need" a trailer with torsion axles and transom hooks on the trailer frame. After David assured me he would fulfill my requests over the phone sight unseen, I proceeded to wire transfer a deposit in the amount of $2904 which is way above the $500 asking deposit sight unseen. I purchased my last brand new trailer here back in 2008 so I felt like I would receive the same great buying experience like I did in the past. To my surprise, the trailer they had prepped for me to pickup today did not even meet my small requests. This trailer had transom tie down hooks on the bunks instead of the requested tie downs on the frame. So what turned into a simple pay the remaining $2000 in cash at delivery turned into a disaster. David then asked for assistance from the GM of the store named Marc Godbolt to help resolve this issue. He then told me this is the way this trailer is built and pretty much disregarded my conversation with David (which David sat there and pretended like our conversation about my transom tie down request never happened). I asked for a refund and Marc flat out told me there are no refunds or partial refunds because they already prepped the trailer for delivery. Had i only paid for the minimum $500 deposit, I would have walked away and not care about losing $500 but not the same when they have $2904 of your hard earned money. He offered to resolve this issue by selling me what I originally requested for an additional $175. His offer actually made me more upset and I felt insulted. Long story short, I was really happy to pick up my new trailer and left this store with $2904 in their pocket, the trailer on their lot and a very upset customer. I should have taken my business to Southeastern Marine like I had originally planned and I would have gotten the trailer I was looking for. I asked to speak to the owner an worst treatment / experience I have ever received buying any product in my lifetime. I hope they do the right thing - Meet my original request or just refund my money so I can buy the Load Rite trailer I should have bought to begin with at Southeastern Marine. I asked to speak to the owner and the GM told me he would forward my request to him. This is by far the WORST buying experience I have ever had in my lifetime.

Bought a new C-Hawk from them sight unseen. Everything was done over the phone. It was a quick and painless transaction. They even referred me a great transport service to get the boat down to Florida. Much appreciated

So far so good! Because of the bad reviews I drug my feet for two years. So far nothing that anyone else has said has been true my experience has been great. I ended up changing the motor I wanted and they worked with me on the switch and kept an open line of communication via email and phone. David has been very pleasant to talk to and a great communicator with what’s going on, they have been totally straightforward with me. I will update my review when I get the boat back!

Update:
Changing my motor selection did not add more time to the install and I got my boat back in a timely fashion. I have heard from a few different people around town that wait times have increased significantly everywhere and I’m glad I got in early. Keep in mind that Ed’s is a big place and they do TONS of re powers. Do not expect to go pick out a motor and get it installed right away! The new motor is awesome and they did a good job on the install. David called me to ask about little things such as key placement etc. which I really liked because I am picky. I did have a little bit of an issue with the cheaper aluminum prop that I decided to go with. Lesson learned! If you spend a bunch of money on a brand new motor go the extra couple hundred bucks for stainless steel prop!! Overall I had a great experience with Ed’s and I would recommend them.

Don’t understand the negative reviews, some people you can’t satisfy no matter what you do. But we had our aluminum boat re-powered here and it came back cleaner than when we dropped it off and the install was extremely neat and professional. The whole process was great. And they were by far the cheapest around.

I bought the last Mercury 115 XP Pro in the universe for my Checkmate. Dave, the salesman and Brandy in finance made the process really easy. Everyone was really friendly and helpful. The head mechanic took the time to go over the new outboard. It was an easy painless experience. I would definitely recomend or go back.
