This is the place to enjoy some great food and drinks with an amazing view. If you are in Kernville, you must visit. My wife ordered the whiskey sour, and I had the 24 kt gold fashioned, and both were tasty. The tri tip flat bread was a little on the small side but definitely had great flavor and a decent amount of beef. We really enjoyed the patio seating overlooking the river and mountains as the sunset created a scene from a postcard.

I could write a book about how phenomenal this place is. The service was fantastic and you can tell that they genuinely wanted us to have a good experience. My husband got a Caesar salad and we didn’t even speak while we ate it because it was so good LOL. I got the fish & chips and could not believe how fresh it was. Their fries are the coolest cut and they taste TOO GOOD. They let my husband customize his pasta a bit, and it was perfect. A MUST TRY!

We don’t do FIVE very often.

BUT!
You take a long neglected area landmark, give it an update and some family love, add a short but incredible menu with healthy (Two meal) portions.
Add the best service we have had in many years. They even let us sit and warm just prior to opening for the day.

OH! and they have this!

Doing it right in Kernville.

Bikers! Jeepers! Sunday drives!
Worth it.

We were fortunate to score a seat overlooking the Kern River. Our waitress was clearly overworked during the early dinner hour, but busted her tail to cover all the patrons. The food was delicious and the view incomparable.

4.8 stars. Really good fine dining place with not the worst prices but the food is really good. It is a little pricey than your standard dining place but really tasty.

We got the 16oz ribeye steak that comes with mashed potatoes (or fries), green beans and a soup (clam chowder) or a salad and then an espresso martini. High quality meet, cooked perfectly and flavorful, same thing for the sides and the soup. The espresso martini was delicious too. The restaurant itself is a beautiful location and offers a great view of the kern river. Unfortunately we couldn’t eat in the indoor fireplace room. the service could have been better and my plate had a few chips. But food and location wise is highly recommended.

Great views of the river. Great service. The chicken pot pie, filet mignon, sauteed mushrooms, and clam chowder were all good. The cheesecake was a little too sweet for my taste, but everything else was great. Entree portions seem large enough to share.

Had another great dinner at Ewing’s. Had their 16 oz ribeye steak 🥩, green beans and baked potato 🥔. Steak was great but expensive at $47. Beautiful view of the Kern river and friendly staff.
I visited Ewings again after being away for a couple of years and it is still a wonderful restaurant with beautiful views. I think the best time to visit is during the day so you can see the amazing views. During lunch or mid afternoon it is a lot of fun to watch the river rafters an tubers float down the Kern river. If you come for dinner time make reservations a day or two in advance.
