I'll tell you...when you've got car troubles, FERRELL'S is THE PLACE. Car repairs are not cheap but Ferrell's is very fair and HONEST. We've been going there since they opened. You can usually get an appointment in a week or if it's an emergency they can help too. Just let them know. Most of the time we were ok for a week out. Our Toyota SUV and Truck ,have been smoged and serviced by Ferrell's. Good people.

Having some issue with the power of our Van during our US trip, we stop to Ferrell's Auto Repair. Any regrets, they change our fuel pump and small other small stuff, and above all they really take care of us during the few days we were blocked here !

By far one of the best places to take your car to. Honest, courteous, and excellent work. Eric and his team are extremely knowledgeable and they always make sure you know what is being done and why it's being done. Fair pricing too.

I called to ask for a diagnostic and the mechanic told me that I should still have basic coverage from the dealership since my vehicle is still fairly new, can’t believe I didn’t think of that. Really appreciate an honest mechanic and that he didn’t try to make money off of me when I can get it checked for free from the dealer.

Larry @ Ferrells is the ONLY mechanic on the central coast that i will allow to service ANY of my cars - he is that good. (He has cared for all of my cars since before Ferrels...for almost 20 years now)
Ferrells as a shop is fairly priced for their services and BEYOND honest... with both good and bad news.
This shop has personally saved 2 vehicles from certain death had they been serviced anywhere else...
1. My former employers 96 Ford e150 service van was saved from being replaced due to mis-diagnosis at another (trusted) shop who quoted a repair price more than the van was worth and stated it would be unable to pass smog without quoted repairs. Larry laughed, knew the code, why it had been mis diagnosed, and what wad actually needed to repair the issue. $150 later it was fixed, passed smog...and stayed in service another 6 years
2. We got my GFz 16yo daughter a $3500 hyundai elantra for her first car. It was sent to ferrells for basic safety inspection and to address some small things of concern. Replacing the timing belt was recommended (with it...another 100k in mileage is easily and reliably possible). That isnt cheap...$5k had been budgeted for the car itself... so she chose to have the belt done. Sadly, just outside the warranty period for the replacement kit... the new belt tensioner seized and the timing belt snapped. (On an interference motor... iykyk) THAT COULD/SHOULD HAVE BEEN THE DEATH OF THE CAR.
Ed Ferrell could have told us "sorry, no warranty its $$$$$...good luck." But instead he covered EVERYTHING! 100% at the shops expense.... including head and block resurfacing, replacing valves and guides... which had to be sent to a machine shop be done, an entire new timing belt kit... EVERY SINGLE PART. Ed asked only that we split Larrys labor for all the work... a net cost to us of $400.... for several thousand dollars in total cost...on a car absolutely not worth it... Except to its driver.... her first car - already named "Carlos" and adorned with all the things teenage girls to to their cars.
I dont live anywhere near atascadero... servicing my cars there isnt "convenient" but so long as i live anywhere in SLO county... Larry is my only mechanic and Ferrells is my only shop.

Ferrell’s is fantastic. My car almost didn’t get over the Cuesta Grade as I was towing my trailer. I luckily made it to Atascadero and found Ferrell’s after researching their reviews. Eric was fantastic and my 1999 Suburban is running like new. I had a multiple misfire code and many factors were causing multiple issues. Ferrell’s was outstanding. Their service is impeccable and pricing is very fair. I can’t thank them enough. Their multiple positive reviews are what brought me here. Thanks to Eric and their crew for restoring my car and getting me on my way. Don’t hesitate to go to Ferrell’s.
