Be careful when you take your bicycles to Herb Bauer Cycling. I took my 2003 GT bump BMX all original parts to get serviced. As I picked up the rims that I had them service. Parts to my rims were missing. I noticed as I got home that my original parts were missing. I went back the following day to show pictures of my original parts that were on my bike and the employee of Herb Bauer Cycling still denied taking them. They replaced different parts on my rims thinking I wasn’t going to notice. My vehicle just broke down two weeks ago. I’m already struggling with transportation and now I’m forced deeper into my struggle and setback. You would think that this would not happen here at Herb Bauer Cycling or any other bicycle shop, business etc yet it did to me. If you choose to ignore my warning about Herb Bauer Cycling and how they steal your bike parts. Please before you do business with them. Video every part or even take pictures of your bike before you have them fix or service what you have. This happened to me recently on February 13 2025. The parts that I have on my bike now from them were never there to begin with. Like I said my original parts were stolen which Herb Bauer Cycling denied even after I provided pictures of my original parts being seen on my Bicycle and current parts were never there. Be careful with Herb Bauer Cycling. The employee is a thief and this Bicycle shop will steal your bicycle parts. They did it to me and they will do it to you if your not careful.

My go to bike shop. I absolutely love this place have been going to Herb's for many years for bikes,parts and everythingelse bicyclerelated. Contrary to what people are saying about pricing I have to argue the fact that I believe his prices are right on market prices. I have bought many bikes for many years from here and have never had one problem. I travel from miles away from well out of town just to make sure this is my first stop for anything I need bike related. I'm not local and I make sure that this place is always my first choice as the business is great. Jacob is a great all around guy and is honest and fair at what he does. The guys & gals that work here are helpful knowledgeable & very personable have shopped Herb Bauers for years it's very sad that this business is closing after 50 years.
Herb Bauers Cycle Shop very nice place to go to buy things that U need. Meet the owner Jacob very personable, courteous, & helpful. He ordered everything I needed & shipping it to my address. Very knowledgeable person! Will recommend this business to everyone I know who cycles. 2024's Best Bicycle Shop In Fresno as per the Fresno Bee!

Excellent customer service in the outdoor dept. Never had a problem with the gun dept. I think people writing bad reviews are the rude ones to begin with then they get mad when they expect people to baby their immature attitudes. It takes respect to earn respect. They aren't paid to be nice to rude customers. We live in fresno so there's a lot of entitled idiots. Food for thought. Great place. I come here for all my outdoor needs. Always happy to help and answer questions. Don't let the bad reviews put you off.

I Went into this store and asked a employee for a front caliper repair on a jetson bolt pro, after he told me that it was not repairable he offered a replacement I accepted and man, this part that they installed can STOP the bike. Reasonable price too, 5 out of 5 Stars.

So Herb Bauer is the only decent full blown outdoor shop in all of Fresno. Yes, their prices tend to be overly ridiculous and I usually only window shop and then make my purchases online for way cheaper, however, they do have good deals some of the time. Their selection is quite good and they often have things I cannot find anywhere else. It is also a fun place to find new products.

Now for the customer service. Their checkout procedure and return policy are quite medieval and they never have enough people working the counter. I will say this though, most everyone in the store is very friendly and willing to lend a hand.

The fishing department is nice and Chris is incredible, such a great guy and very knowledgeable.
Their manager in the shoe department is also great and will spend all the time in the world to make sure you get a good pair of hiking boots. Even though their prices are about 20% higher than online the customer service is well worth the extra money for purchases like a pair of hiking boots.

Now about their gun counter, they have a great selection of firearms but their selection and price on ammo is completely poor and outrageous. Again, window shopping is the name of the game. The quality and professionalism of the guys behind the counter is hit and miss, two of them (one with a ponytail) are fantastic but a few others are just down right rude and foul mouthed. I was talking to one guy about an assault rifle and he was cussing up a storm about this and that. These are the ones that only care about making a sale and getting you off the counter so they can try to make a sale with the next poor sucker in line.

All in all a great place to look and maybe make a few purchases, still thankful to have a local shop that is well stocked so I do try to support them when its reasonable. Overall good customer service minus the few jerks that work there.
