Hertz Car Rental - Marvin K Brown Hle - San Diego, California

I rented a car from Hertz at Marvin K. Brown Cadillac Dealership while my vehicle was bring serviced for several days over the Columbus Day weekend! I drove the vehicle to L.A. for the 3 day weekend & on the way back to San Diego, the tire blew out on the interstate! Luckily I was able to continue to drive the car to the nearest exit & called Hertz Roadside Assistant, that's when I found out their was no spare tire in the vehicle! Customer Service Rep stated they no longer place the spare tire in their vehicles! So I had to purchase a tire from a local mobile tire repair company for $200 plus the mobile service for a total of $350. This is absolutely ridiculous & a very dangerous safety hazard for Hertz not placing spare tires in their vehicles & it's an absolutely ripoff to consumers for having to pay out of pocket for an expense like this! I will never rent a vehicle from this company ever again! This is outright just plain stupid on their part & what if I didn't even have the funds! Bunch of idiots!

worst pick up experience. I am at 9:55 to pick up my car and it takes them Sixty Minutes to clean the car and get it ready. HORRIBLE experience and only one staff in charge of everything. Avoid this Car rental at all cost.

Super easy and zero pressure representatives quickly handled the paperwork and had my rental ready to drive away in 15 minutes.
This experience was the best ever.
Had the opposite experience in San Jose Airport I will post later. Never go to that Hertz. Horrible, high pressure sales people. They should learn from this place how to be nice.

BE WARNED. Do not rent a car here! If you do, understand they are CLOSED on the weekends. Every HERTZ in the city of San Diego is closed on the weekends. If you scheduled to return your car on a Sat or Sun, THEY ARE CLOSED and they will FORCE you to pay for a rental that you no longer need and can't return because they are closed. They will also NOT listen to you and understand I gave them 1 star only because Google forces you to choose at least 1 star in order to post. So again.....Be WARNED! You will be scammed.

Had booked and payed upfront. Upon arrival/pick-up it was time for the security deposit and - surprise - my prepaid credit card was refused. Even though it was good enough for the upfront payment. Debit cards and cash also refused. Issue nowhere to be found in the contract. Finally I left without a car but still had to pay the first three days of rental/insurance because of "last minute cancellation". This together with additional hotel costs and Uber I lost several hundred $. Not even speaking of all the stress and lost vacation day. Not blaming the staff, he was was really trying to help, but the system is absolutely unacceptable. Great way to make money without providing service. Hertz lost a customer for good.
Update: following the link below I discussed this topic further with Hertz on fb messenger. Outcome: Total waste of time. Nobody there knows their policies, every reply comes from a different employee and the responses directly contradict themselves with regards to which kind of payment is accepted (or not). @ Hertz: omg yes, this definitely keeps me from ever renting (or better, trying to rent) a car from you again.

I wouldn't usually write a review for a car rental facility, but John the manager at the Hertz in the Marvin K Brown is great! Seriously, he's a stand up guy who tries his best to accommodate. I had a rental through my insurance and he was a pleasure to deal with. He helped procure the kind of vehicle I needed and helped with extending the rental and sending me the rental agreement when I needed it again. 10/10 experience, thanks John.

A big 'thank you' to John and Lyn. Every time i drop off my truck to get it worked on (unfortunate for the past 2yrs, it's been often...about 8 times) John and Lyn have always been professional, nice and courtesy in their customer service with me. The rental rates are very competitive and is a fair value. With the small facility and small manning they have, Lyn and John have made it a nice experience to get a car from. I've read other reviews of people praising Lyn and John and I agree with those review. These two are great! Wishing them and this particular Hertz location well and continued success!

I really don't understand any poor reviews here as I use this Hertz location often and have had fantastic results. There's one reason I have to point out this Hertz location at Marvin Brown auto dealership gets a full five star rating and his name is John Doucette who is the manager there I believe.

On multiple occasions I've rented here and he has been nothing but super positive and super helpful in making sure my experience is solid.

I wish more Hertz had managers like him. There are no blockers to making the customer happy with this guy.

John ... I hope this review helps you get a raise!! You deserve it.

Update: I just rented another car today and worked with Lynn. She is awesome too! Fist pump to Lynn for making my morning smooth.
