Only rental car place I’ve ever had attempt to blame me for preexisting damages to the car. They tried to charge me over $400 for damages that were clearly already there. Either they’re terrible at inspecting the cars after they’re returned and they missed the damages last time, or they knew the damages were there and were just trying to get money out of me. It makes me wonder how many other people they’ve done this to. Thankfully I had taken photos that proved the damages were already there when I first picked up the car. After sending the proof to them, I received no apology or acknowledgement that they had been wrong. Absolutely unacceptable and unprofessional. I will never rent from this place again.

Wouldn't you think that when you reserve a rental car that, since you made a "reservation," that car would actually be available when you go to pick it up?

Not at Hertz. Also, according to the guys behind the counter, this is "normal." No reservations actually guarantee that you will find a car waiting for you when you show up. So... Why have a reservation system at all?

This is 2024, don't these companies have computers showing their inventory? Hertz doesn't.

I'm totally screwed, and my week is screwed and so is my family's. I hope Hertz goes out of business, finally. Talk about a race to the bottom.

Customer representative would not rent car and honor the confirmed paid for reservation. They had cars but wanted me to cancel my current reservation to get the higher priced reservation. Said her manager would not allow her to honor my reservation which was done directly thru HERTZ. This place is a complete scam and will not honor your reservation!

Just a word of caution with Hertz, if you return your vehicle after hours, you’ll likely have to submit a claim for additional charges they like to add on. I started out with a 5 star experience. The employee at the counter was efficient, but after I returned my vehicle with a full tank of gas, I received a receipt that claimed I picked up the car with 99% full tank and returned it with 65% full tank. I drove only 42 miles the entire trip and still put almost 2 gallons to top it off before returning. Furthermore, the process they have in place to report a claim is only through email, and they require you to submit a fuel receipt. They will not help you over the phone and it takes several days for a decision to be made.

Let me tell you, I would give 6 stars if I could. My mother had a issue with her rental car from Dollar Rental, and no one, I mean NO ONE would help or provide advice or assistance. We called everywhere and they either led us in circles, or just didn't have a car available.

That was until I talked with Anita from Hertz at the Monterey Airport. She was sympathetic to our issue and took it upon herself to try and get us another car my mom could use. Magically, she got us a car and she was so kind during the entire process.

Anita, if you're reading this, you are genuinely kind. helpful, and sweet. Thank you so much for your help. You were the reason my mother was able to travel safely.

If you're ever at the Monterey Airport and need a car, ask for Anita at Hertz.

It’s the weekend of my wedding and there was no cars available, but these guys made it happen. We ordered a Lyft to our air bnb somewhat defeated. But then the gentleman behind the counter actually chased us down to let us know a car has just opened up.(perfect timing) I don’t know many people that would be willing to do that. It really made our whole trip so much better. I can’t thank hertz enough for going above and beyond. 5/5

First off, did not get car requested. I knew right away something was wrong with it after driving to work. I called roadside who setup exchange at closest location. I get there, they have no car and I’m assured it okay to drive.
Then, Friday night. Car dies. Electrical problem and stuck in parking til 3 am. Road side directions to call back in morning to arrange Uber for car. There is no record of our service call for 2 hours on hold.
Our original branch closes early Saturday. So they transfer reserve to Monterey airport.
Uber takes us and Monterey says “they don’t have any cars. And turned away others. This was Lucas.

I’ll fast forward, Monterey lied to us twice. Only reason we got a car is we made a back up plan and reserve an Audi as I stay online with roadside. We were given Nissan no apology. So you have no cars to a car for me in 3 mins time?Come to find out, I have a voicemail from that evening from employee Vanessa literally saying they don’t have any cars after roadside made the request. The lot was completely full.

Guess whose rental car is now stuck not starting around the corner ? Took myself and my partner taking batteries out of our keys because the car didn’t recognize Fob or start. And being charged all 7 days when 3 I had no car.

I really hope it’s not because my girlfriend and I are gay.
