I rented a truck to drive to Minnesota and visit my 77yr old Vietnam veteran father. I've attached a video documenting that the truck has suspension damage and Hertz expects me to pay for the time that I had the truck and refused to acknowledge the obvious problem with this truck.
Jeff the manager doesn't seem to care that their truck is undrivable on a freeway and shakes like it's on a dirt road.
His reply was "Sounds Great!

Where do I even begin with this debacle of a situation… I searched and found a rate of $98 for 7-passenger vehicle on April 18, 2024, I attempted to book said car online through AAA. This car was not available. I called on April 19, 2024 at 11:30am and spoke with the manager Frank about the 7-passenger suv Suburban and why it wasn’t booking online. I asked if I could book it directly with him and refused stating he couldn’t online pricing and that the code AAA provides needs to be used in person versus booking online. Okay… I arrive to the location in person as requested after booking a reservation through AAA. I asked that the reservation be canceled and new one created. The woman undertaking the task decided to “UPGRADE” my reservation which isn’t what I asked for! I was charged $249 extra for a car that wasn’t even allowing booking on the website. They essentially said oh, well there’s nothing we can do. Due to a death on the family and my husband’s car being in the shop for service we needed a rental car immediately. The lady who assisted never provided the total amount. I was given three different prices $173, $98, and $112. Collective we had agreed on $112 for the rental since they could not ‘honor’ the $98 online or use the AAA I provided. After checking out I notice I was charged $160 per day instead of the $112. I called and spoke with Frank on April 21, 2024 and he was zero help he kept stating how do you feel you were overcharged when it was an upgrade? It wasn’t an upgrade it was a new booking reservation but if we want to go based on the previous reservation at $53 per day and pay the difference it still should’ve been under $112 per day. I do not recommend booking. Heed the reviews. The representatives are rude, unprofessional, and ignore you and purposefully make you wait more than 10 minutes before even acknowledging you. At pick up and drop off(April 23, 2024) the representative did not do a walk through luckily I took a video of possession and return of the car so I’m not overly charged more than already OVERCHARGED me! This location should be closed based on the poor reviews alone of the representatives and the service received. I will be disputing all charges with my bank. They gave me a dirty car but it was “fueled” I returned it cleaned and in better condition than it was rented to me. Pictures provided as proof of the condition of the car. As Frank stated on the call he was tasked with ‘cleaning’ the car and sending off to a different location but I happened to have rented it before it was sent to be delivered to the intended location. The lack of transparency and not honoring pricing per the rental agreement this rental agency needs to be reported and held accountable for their transgressions and taking advantage of clients and hindering and forcing undue financial consequences on the consumer/renter. Again heed the reviews and book elsewhere this hertz is a a bad business transaction.

I recently rented a car from this location and the whole rental process went very smooth. Very clean car and easy to work with staff.

My main reason for writing the review is the manager that helped me return my rental car. As I was finishing up with the return process another man walked into the reception area. Although no one else was in the area and every chair was open, the man choose to stand EXTREMELY close to me. This made me very uneasy, but my return process was almost over so I was going to ignore it.

Only a few seconds went by before the manager asked the man (politely, and extremely professionally) to distance himself from me. Even though the man got a little aggravated, the manager kept his calm and professional tone and did not back down. I honestly think that the managers calm and kind demeanor kept the man from escalating anything further.

Hurtz, you have a great employee at this location and his will to stand up for a stranger was amazing. Additionally, his professionalism throughout the whole ordeal was unmatched.

To the manger: Thank you for your help and I hope this good Karma comes back your way.

Quick to take your money and do not explain policies and services. Told my agent that I was taking an out of town trip. The agent asked where I was going but did not offer Toll Pass coverage. I find out about it weeks after the rental of course, at my expense. I would not recommend using this company even to an enemy!

I'm giving a 2-star rating instead of a 1-star because my experience picking up my rental was seamless and without hiccup. However, my experience dropping off was very unprofessional in manner as it relates to the staff who were present. I pulled up obviously in a hurry (gentleman in the front even asked me if I was in a rush). There was not another customer in the Hertz location at that time. So I walked up to this same gentleman and he asked me to give him a minute to finish up what he was doing. I said ok and then I mentioned to him and his co-worker that I could not physically open the gas tank to fill it. I stood for 5 minutes at the gas station trying to do this and it would not open. The gentleman then proceeded to tell me very sarcastically that I would have to pay the uprcharge then but that he would be willing to show me how to open it. I said I know how to open it. It physically won't open. He had the worst most unprofessional attitude and was almost excited to educate me and said I could take it back to the station and fill it up after if I wanted to. I then called my husband to discuss the situation with him and as I'm on the phone explaining to him the extra charges, this same employee is yelling from the back that I'm not telling my husband the true story. Unreal.. I didn't even see these poor ratings before I rented but now I'm not surprised in the least bit.

Do not rent here with a Debit card. They will just end up overcharging you. They have charged $208 to my Debit card without my authorization. It is a holiday weekend and now I don’t get refunded until Tuesday. This situation could have been solved on last Tuesday, had they listened to me when I told them something with their system was glitching. They didn’t escalate the issue to corporate like I asked. So I had to do that myself. Now I’m without a car for an entire week and I can’t effectively get to work. Incompetence seems to be the theme in the negative reviews here. It fits in circumstances where they have to actually go a little bit out of their way to solve an issue. Especially when it’s a company blunder. Not my own. I won’t be renting here again unless they compensate me for the money and week lost. Not only that I had to dispute those charges with my bank and I now won’t have a physical card until the
end of the month. Very inconvenient.

EDIT: it took an entire week for them to address this issue, not only that, they didn’t actually look into it and gave me a short-sighted reply, as if I was the one at fault. There is no way I can affect a faulty POS system that charges people without completing a contract! I was going to remove this review if I were to receive proper service, but I definitely did not! I will be reporting to the BBB!

I booked a rental with these guys so that I could take a cross country trip to the PNW without putting the miles on my own personal vehicle; additionally I loved the unlimited mileage perk as part of my rental fees. With the miles I drove it would have added a few hundred in costs at other companies. Both Hertz staff members I got to interact with were lovely and made the process really smooth. I'm in my early 20s, but they had no problem renting to me for an additional fee per day. The car I originally booked wasn't available so I received a free upgrade. The '23 Gladiator rented out to me was very clean inside and out and had good tires and low mileage. After hours key drop was easy enough to figure out. I can't remember his name but I got a call the next business day following up with me to make sure things went well with my rental. All in all great experience and I didn't have to go all the way out to the airport for a rental car. Was a pleasure to rent from Hertz Parker, and if I need a car again in the future I'll get in touch!

Was promised a Ford Explorer size vehicle. When I got there I was given a Malibu and was told I could call other locations if I wanted to swap the vehicle. They have been horrible to work with and by far no accommodation. Was told I might be able to get the vehicle I was suppose to have almost 2 week later. Biggest pet peeve should I be given an update instead of a down grade..... won't ever rent from hertz again
