From the moment I arrived and began working with James, at the front counter, everything went as smoothly as it could. He gave me an estimate of about two to two and a half hours, so I was able to take a walk close by and get some breakfast, and then when I returned I was able to sit in there comfortable, and warm, lounge until my car was ready. They even cleaned and washed it for me.

UPDATE (2/18/2025): I've continued working with James, and had to return for a third visit (I'm doing the oil consumption test), and he was able to secure me a loaner vehicle for the day or two that they will need to take pictures of my engine in order to get an engine soak approved. I'm sure I will be back for a new engine assessment - and hopefully approval - and I look forward to working with James again. So far this process has been smooth and productive, and I know Hyundai will take care of me and my car and do what needs to be done. Thank you James and Laguna Niguel Hyundai service department!

FINAL UPDATE: Jim Contreras, at Hyundai of LN, and Hyundai in general, came through for me. They approved me for a new engine block, and when Jim called me to let me know, I went over there and was given a loaner car, and he let me know that it would take some time. (I picked up the loaner car and dropped off my Hyundai Sonata SE on Thursday, March 20th, and was told that my car would likely be ready the following week on Wednesday. Luckily, the guys at Hyundai of LN are dedicated and I received a call Friday late afternoon, that my car was ready and I could pick it up either before they closed or on Saturday. I just picked it up and it is running beautifully. Thank you to everyone at Hyundai of LN!

We are a repeat customer...we just got our 3rd Santa Fe. Love the new design and roomier interior. It is quite upgraded from our 2019 Santa Fe. And love the new matte finish. The sales team of Valerio and Alicia were great. We had so much fun getting our 3rd Santa Fe and the hot chocolate is yummy too while you wait!

Further Edit: This is the WORST dealership I have ever worked with! Can’t get registration right, issue after issue with the car, I can’t get ahold of anyone. This is unacceptable.

Edit: Finally got ahold of one of the sales managers who essentially told me they can’t do anything at all. Really disappointed in the experience. Also discovered today the car was sold with an open airbag recall…. Selling a car with potential safety issues

Mixed reviews of the buying experience at Laguna Niguel Hyundai.

First off Aaron and his team were helpful, but seemed disinterested at the start of the process until they realized we were serious buyers. My wife and I are younger (early 20s) and came in looking at a 2021 Mazda Miata, so essentially a sports car. The sales team seemed disinterested but were still helpful and prompt with getting the car and whatnot.

Aaron was great at working with us on financing and getting the job done. They did try to push the “add on” coatings and trim guards but that is expected at all dealers.

The issue lays in the condition of the car. After getting out of finance it was 8pm or so, and when I got in the car the seats were greasy and unclean, I found a lighter in between the seats, and overall I’m gonna have to pay to have my new to me car detailed. On top of that gas was half a tank, simple thing but usually when you buy a car you get a full tank?

In addition the car has several minor issues that should’ve been solved prior to sale. The key fob is broken and missing the backing, there is a side skirt that is falling off, ebrake light stays on, passenger seatbelt won’t retract on its own, along with a variety of other small issues, all of these issues developing in the first 500 miles of ownership.

While I understand I’m buying a used car, I would expect it to be better sorted prior to sale.

Overall not a bad experience. But not great either. I would say, if you’re buying a used car just do your due diligence.

Update 1: Getting ahold of the dealership is a nightmare. Call and call and it just gets rerouted to their main menu every time I try to get ahold of the sales manager.

From my initial email conversations with Hudson, to meeting the Sales Manager Arsenio, to working through the decision making process with Aaron, and finalizing the contracts with Alex, this was probably the least stressful and low pressure car purchase I’ve ever made.

I felt informed, heard, and empowered to make the decisions that were best for my family’s situation. We opted for a newer version of the vehicle we initially wanted with an added warranty not because we were pressured to do so but because we knew all of the options.

Beyond that, everyone was so personable and kind despite it being an obviously busy day for them.

We were in contact with many different dealerships during this process, but this one truly stood out for the best possible reasons.

They just remodeled and majorly upgraded their waiting area. Top notch service too. Made it quick and easy. It was also a nice to receive video from the mechanic technician of my break pad and tire tread levels as well as lights and blinkers. Nice touch.

I wanted to leave a review for this dealership because I had a great experience. Even though I am still un decisive about buying a Hyundai, I feel like I’m in a better headspace in making that decision. And that’s all thanks to Hudson. He showed me a few cars and answered all my questions, did not pressure me at all. I will definitely be coming back.
