Booked the car through Capital One Travel. Jumped on the hotel shuttle, and picked up the car on time. Easy in and out. Drove around LA for two days without issue. Dropped off the car a little prior to scheduled and headed back to the airport via the hotel shuttle. No issues, and great customer service. I do travel a lot, so I am fairly prepared for most items needed.
Picked it up with a full tank, and dropped it off the same way.

I didn't read reviews until after rental was over and I'm glad I didn't because I wouldn't have rented from them. I rented in San Diego. You have to go to the airport rental area and they pick you up from there. I texted them from the shuttle bus and their van was there to pick me up in less than 5 minutes. Seemless checkin and they said I was paid in full but we will see as I just dropped the car off. Immaterial shuttle back to the airport shuttle and I was done. They do hold $500, ill have to wait and see if that is released. I reserved managers choice and was given a Nissan kicks with 2500 miles on it. Everything was great will update if I have issues from the return.

Update, they did keep 37 cents of the $500 deposit, don't know why because I didn't receive a bill, but it was only 37 cents so I didn't care.

I was so relieved to have an overall pleasant experience with NU car rentals! I wish I checked reviews beforehand but it was too late and cancellation wasn’t an option. I prepaid through Expedia. The instructions for pickup by the shuttle are a little confusing and nerve wracking but once I found the red hotel shuttle sight up top at departures they arrived within 10 minutes. The men working the desk and the car pickup were very pleasant and helpful. I did get insurance which brought the cost up a little bit but that was the only additional expense.

My only complaint is that the car smelled VERY strongly of axe body spray and gave me a headache and made me smell like I sprayed on way too much cologne.

Drop off was straight forward and smooth.

Had a good experience. I booked through CapitalOne and was given a very cheap quote. Upon arrival, some added fees were tacked on but Becca was able to help us out. It was a smooth and friendly experience. It is cheaper than other car rentals, so be aware that added fees will be charged. Becca was amazing though and I would highly recommend booking through NU!

Not our best or worst experience.

Shuttle was on time and fairly simple to navigate.

The service desk at the Renaissance hotel was dim and uninviting, as was the attendant working the desk.

We were surprised to learn that our rental was going to cost us 4x what we were quoted due to their liability insurance policy that required us to opt in. (~$150.00/5 days)

Still cheaper than the big rental car companies, but probably break even after fees, and would likely offer no customer service if there were any issues during our rental period.

Would suggest paying the extra 30$ and go with a more popular rental agency.

There was a kind woman who helped us later on that seemed to be a manager and made our experience better.

I should’ve seen the reviews and turned around but I was already at LAX, had booked through my credit card, it was too late to get a refund, we really wanted to get in the road, and figured it’d be fine. That was a mistake.

Getting to Nu wasn’t easy, the directions they provide could be clearer. It took a good hour to get there from baggage claim. I can’t blame that all on them, LAX traffic is terrible, but it’s good to know if you think you’ll land and be in your rental quickly. You have to take the metro bus to a remote lot and then either walk another half mile or take another shuttle to the hotel where the rental car agency is located.

When we finally arrived, we were informed that, since we were more than 2 hours past our check in time, our car was given away. We weren’t able to pick a time when we booked, 10am was the only option. We booked a midsize suv, and were told that they had a full-size suv or midsize sedan. When I asked if the full size suv would be no extra charge, I was told it would be more. So naturally, the next question was “so if i paid for a midsize suv, and you’re downgrading me to the sedan, I’ll get a partial refund, right?” That was met with a “nooo, you’re actually gonna pay more”. At this point, whatever, screw this. I’ll pay it. There’s no other options nearby, it’s late, we need to get on the road. So we finally get in the car, turn it on, gas light is already on, 13 miles to empty. We had already been told we needed to return with the same amount of fuel it started with (as everywhere does) or be charged. But again, screw it, we stop at the first gas station we can find and pay airport premium fuel prices to fill it up. I get the rental agreement later that day and they claimed the tank was full. BS. I took time stamped pics of the fuel gauge in the lot in case they try to charge me but still waiting to see if they try.

Of final note, they don’t examine the car when you turn it in, they just take your keys. I feel like this opens the door for fraudulent damage claims. They also charge you $25 for after hours key drop off which costs them nothing and changes nothing in how they operate returns clearly. We ended up turning our car in the night before to avoid more hassle the following day before our flight.

The worst experience I've ever had. We made our reservation for mid grade SUV at $108. When we showed up at the counter, they said our reservation is not guaranteed because we didn't pay in ahead of time. What they offered us was either get a sedan for the same price or pay more than double to have high grade SUV.

We've used 3+ different rental car companies and this was the first time that we were not guaranteed the car we reserved.

We needed SUV size car cause we were 4 people + luggages. So we ended up paying $220 in total and got unnecessarily expensive upgraded car.

They also charged extra fee for returning after office hours which I never paid in other rental company.

LISTEN TO ALL OF THESE REVIEWS AND STAY AWAY!!!

I'm writing this in March 2025, however, I rented a car with them in August 2024. While I had the car, I received two citations: one for no license plate in front of the vehicle ($58), and the second for no registration sticker on the front windshield ($73). Both of these tickets are not my responsibility. When returning, I let them know about the two citations and was told "don't worry about it, we will take care of it."

Fast forward to seven months later (present day), my credit card is being charged $365 for two tickets and late fees. Absolutely horrible.

Can't even reach out to the company because they do not pick up any phones, however, I've disputed the charge with my credit card and WILL be getting the money refunded!!! Never again. If I could give 0 stars I would.
