I had a great experience renting from NY Rent a Car. The process was super smooth, and the customer service was top-notch—especially thanks to Chris, who went above and beyond to help me out.

From the start, Chris was friendly, courteous, and showed extreme knowledge and professionalism. He made sure I understood all my options and answered all my questions in a transparent manner. It was a hassle-free and straightforward process, which I genuinely appreciated.

The car I rented was clean, well-maintained, and in excellent condition — no weird smells, no mechanical issues, just a reliable ride. The pricing was very fair and the whole booking process was easy and transparent.

Pick-up and drop-off were a breeze. Chris had everything ready to go when I arrived, and returning the car was just as smooth. No long waits or unnecessary paperwork—just quick and efficient service. The location is also super convenient, making the whole experience better.

Where do I even begin? I was in desperate need of a rental service local in my area due to a schedule conflict with my travels. I stumbled upon NY - rent a car - and am I glad I did. I was under duress due to all my scheduled plans changing and Chris made everything run so smoothly. The generosity that Chris portrays to his clients is immaculate. He truly made my first rental experience amazing that I felt indebted to him in the end. Compared to the other local rental services in OC, you definitely can't beat his price. All his rentals come delivered clean and new, not to mention his wide variety of cars in inventory so rest assured, your expectations and requests will be met. I put a reservation for a car today, when I arrived the business was closed no was there to even say no more cars were available. I keep calling their numbers and no one is answering, very unprofessional.

My brother used the car for about three days last November and returned it.
When he rented a car, he took some pictures in order to record the status of rental car and then, when he returned it, there was no traffic penalty or no car accident.

And he needs to get my $300 deposit back.

Four months later, they have been still checking the damage check at this point. it doesn't make sense... why they still check the damage until now? he used only 3 days.. and there were no car accident or traffic penalty...

once we have some questions to them, we have been trying to contact .. but there is no response to the customer's request about updates..

According to the contract, the deposit is supposed to be returned in three weeks... we haven't received it yet.

I contacted to NY rental car company a few days ago, but they were still checking it.....and then they have never picked up the phone ...

The customer is trying to get the money that it is right to get back to us, so don't avoid it and just honorably deposit the deposit.

I have never seen such an ugly and despicable company in my life.

If you want to rent a car, do not use NY rental car.

Fact is, we've been trying to reach you for four months, and it's true that we haven't been able to reach you well, .... right?

여기 업체 망해서 잠수탄거 아니죠? 망했으면 불쌍해서 300불 그냥 드릴께요. 만약 영업 중이시라면 데미지 체크 관련해서 업데이트 해주시고요 (솔직히 4개월 동안 내내 3일만 이용한 차량 데미지 체크 말도 안된 소리지만) 300불 빠른 시일이내 저희 카드로 입금 해주세요. 지금 제 동생이 한국에 있어서 올 수 없다는 이유로 그렇게 사기치시나요? 4개월 동안 고작 300불 디파짓 안돌려주면서 변명으로 데미지 체크한다는 변명같지도 않은 말을 계속 앵무새처럼 하시면... 고객 입장에서는 사기당했다고 생각하는거아시죠? 한국인 관광객 상대로 이런식으로 비즈니스 운영하셨다면 팩트는 사기치시면서 운영하신거네요? 인생 참 잘살고 계시네요~ 빠른 시일내 300불 디파짓 저희에게 돌려주세요. 계약상 3주 후에 돌려주신다고 명시되어있는데, 그 계약서에 적힌 항목도 제대로 이행 안하는 회사,,, 한번 제대로 고소 당하고 한인 커뮤니티에 얼굴 이름 팔려봐야 정신차릴려나;;; 암튼 연락부탁드립니다 ;;;;

First visit to the United States and wasn't familiar with the typical car rental rates. Customer service at NY rent cars helped me a lot and did price comparisons to other rental car companies in the area. Their price is competitive and all their cars, even those priced at the lower range, feel premium. Very promising and would definitely recommend. Looking forward to using their services during my next visit.

WARNING: Do NOT rent from here unless you want your deposit to be stolen.

(Also, look through the 5* reviews. Most of them only have a single review to their name and I even see one of them posted by one of the employee/owners of the business, so their shady business model clearly knows no bounds).

This is going to be a long story, but if it dissuades another potential victim from using this service, it'll have been worth it. This rental service will CHARGE (not put on hold like any normal business) a $300 deposit for your rental, in addition to your rental fees. They won't return this deposit to you unless you ASK for it. Sketchy business practice? Sure is. And even then- it's absurdly hard to reach them on the phone. They seem to prey on international travelers who can't easily make claims from abroad after having returned to their home country. When I requested the ($300) deposit to be refunded, they sent me a check for roughly $200, citing "toll fees." What kind of toll fees is $100+?! I asked them to provide me with documentation, and they never provided it. I wasn't able to reach them after this, so I filed a dispute with my credit card company, and they suddenly came up with more bogus accounting of $150 "overuse fees" + $50 admin fees + toll fees, for a total of over $200 charge, telling the credit card claims department that they owe me $95. Why did they originally send me a check for ~$200 then? They're obviously making this up as they go and can't even account for/recall what they previously agreed to/did. (There are more shady things they did with regards to documentation that I could add, but for legal purposes I will refrain from specifying here, in case I decide to take them to small claims).

To add on with regards to the "overuse fees," they will VERBALLY tell you that mileage is unlimited. BUT, should you still choose to rent with this company (which I seriously hope you're second guessing at this point), check the fine print of their rental agreement (I admit, this part is my fault for not seeing this first and taking them on their word, but the point being made here is this- their word means NOTHING. DO NOT trust them on what they say, read everything yourself, even though they'll probably give you the stink eye for taking your time combing through the rental agreement).
