My car broke down outside of Gardendale while I was 8 hours into a 13 hour road trip. I was alone with my dogs and everyone was very kind and helpful, getting my car diagnosed quickly (blown engine ?) and being very patient while I figured out the next steps. I appreciate all their help and I highly recommend them if you need their services!

Worst location around!!
I would never trust anyone behind the counter. It took over a hour and a half for there mechanics to look at one tire for leaks. The whole time I saw at least 1 mechanic on his phone at the counter eating and the managers talking crap about the customers. They blame me for having a bad lugs ( new tires were purchased there 2 months ago) when the mechanic used the wrong size socket.
This place is as dirty as it looks inside.

I brought my car (2015 Honda Accord) in for a brake inspection (10/5/24) and ended up getting my rear brakes, rotors, and drums replaced. When I left I noticed my brake pedal went all the way to the floor before stopping and I noticed a weird noise when pressing the brake pedal. I tried bringing my car back during the week but was unable to coordinate a time as I work long hours during the week so I scheduled an appointment for 10/12/24 as I was going to have my valve cover replaced as well. Come to find out only 3 of the 4 calipers were working, something that wasn't an issue when I brought my car in nor did it come up on the initial inspection but all of a sudden it's not working after the brake repair? ? Anyways, I was told "unfortunately that isn't covered under warranty" and I had to fork out another $500 for a new caliper. Just seemed wrong to charge me for something that was done under the time you had my car. Where's the accountability Typical mechanic shop story, bring it in for one thing and they end up beating you out of money for other stuff. I had intended to bring my car there to finish the other recommended repairs but not after dealing with this.

Our car broke down in Warrior, AL while we were 3 hours away from home (headed on vacation). It was a Saturday so hardly any shops were open. This Pep Boys location answered the phone immediately and told me that if we could get towed there, they would take a look at it that day, even though they couldn't guarantee being able to fix it that day. It was our only hope of getting on our way, so we came in and they had it diagnosed within an hour of us arriving. It was bad news, but they helped inform us of our next steps in this town that we were unfamiliar with, and they showed great empathy for our situation. They truly saved our car, us, and our vacation. <3

I love these guys! In an industry that generally takes advantage of single women, especially single older women, I was cautious in using their services. There aren't many options for regular auto mechanics in this Gardendale, AL area. I am happy to report that these guys were not the norm. All involved in my service needs were patient when explaining the details, etc... They all made me feel safe in having gone there & respected. A special shout-out to Joshua Duckett. He especially, treated me like I was his mom. I definitely recommend this location & crew for all your auto needs.
