Scheduled a maintenance for my 2016 Honda fit. Shottenkirk set a time, so I (and my team) rescheduled multiple meetings in my personal workday to accommodate.

During one of these rescheduled meetings, about an hour prior to my scheduled appointment with Shottenkirk, I received a lengthy voicemail from a representative of Shottenkirk, specifying that there was a question regarding my vehicle and that it would be appreciated if I would call them back.

I excused myself from the meeting to make the call, expecting an important question about my vehicle that was relevant to the service I had scheduled, and figured it was somewhat imperative to return the call.

Turns out, they just wanted to try to convince me to sell them the car and sell me a different one.

This is a vile and reprehensible business practice, and I finally understand why the common advice is to just find a private mechanic you trust, rather than a licensed dealership. I am too busy to entertain sales pitches that are unsolicited and only can occur through the omission of information prior to the engagement.

I won't be engaging with Shottenkirk again. Do better

Edit: one addition - Why would I trust an entity to repair my vehicle when they're willing to masque a call as concerning the repair, when it is simply a pitch to me to just get a new one? Clearly, the highest interest is selling me a replacement.
Not a good look, Shottenkirk. I didn't make an appointment with your sales team. I made an appointment with your service center

Writing reviews isn't something I normally do. However, because of how my husband and I felt after leaving Shottenkirk today, I decided to post a review. The car I purchased from Shottenkirk is absolutely perfect for me. I had an amazing salesman, Kelsey Young. In addition to being patient with us, he addressed any concerns we had. He is a phenomenal salesman. To put it mildly, the financing aspect of this sale was very stressful. While I understand dealerships' push for customers to finance their cars with one of their lenders, I believe customers shouldn't feel as if they are pressured to use one of their lenders or treated differently if they choose to finance with their own bank. There is so much I can say about their lending process but I am not. I was so angry sitting across the table from the finance guy, whose name I will not mention. I was appalled by this person even though I did not say anything because I did not want to be "that person". I would have left the dealership if not for the fact that no surrounding car dealership sold a car like the one I purchased with the miles. As far as this particular car dealership is concerned, this is my experience. It was disappointing for my husband and me, even though many others have had great experiences. Personally, I would not return to this dealership, first and last time, and I would not recommend it to my family or friends. My decision not to return to this dealership was solidified by the fact that not one person said congratulations, no one said I hope you enjoy your new car, no one said thank you for considering us, no one said thank you for your business. This is the first time in our car buying history, that we have left out of a dealership feeling so disappointed. However, one guy asked us, out of the blue, "How did you hear about us?" with no other acknowledgment of our purchase. You live and you learn, and I Shottenkirk really taught us a lesson today!
