Sunrise Marine in Daphne gave me and my wife an outstanding shopping experience. Josh Carr was our sales person and he went way out of his way to make sure we bought the right boat for me and my wife. Josh took us out on four different boats and completely explained how each one worked. Definitely the best shopping experience I have ever been on. I almost forgot to mention Heather in the service department, she also went out of her way with helping me with my old boat and pointing in the right direction on my insurance claim.

I emailed Sunrise Marine of Alabama to discuss my issues. A guy called me and his name is Nicolas Bolanos. He promised for weeks that he was working on my issues and wanted to help. Nick was also my salesman when I bought the boat in 2018. More to follow on this. I’ve got the run around from him now for almost 3 weeks and nothing has been resolved.

Below is my first complaint

I bought a 2018 Robalo R202 from this place new. The boat has been junk since 2020. I’ve constantly fought water in fuel issues.

In May 2023 it nearly sank. On May 23rd I took it back to them with an insurance claim thinking the dealer that sells these pieces of junk would finally fix it correctly. When I dropped it off I explained everything that was going on with water coming in, showed pictures, discussed corrosion and I consistently reiterated to the service lady that there was water in the fuel.

Fast forward 4+ months (I was about two weeks late picking it up due to work travels) I received a call that it was done and running great. I called on Tuesday morning, October 17th to pay the deductible and then sent a friend to pick it up. He got there and there was a chip in the skeg. Service lady (Heather) agreed to fix it and the boat was picked up on the 19th.

Got home with the boat and started looking in it and realized nothing I discussed had been done. Same fuel water separator filter that was on it when I dropped it off. Tons and tons of corrosion on everything that could possibly have corrosion on it and to top it off, the batteries were dead.

The next morning, October 20th, with charged batteries I took it to the ramp to run it. Got to the ramp and the motor wouldn’t start due to….. Water in the fuel!

I contacted my insurance adjuster to see what my options were and it’s now at another shop. I never received an invoice from Sunrise Marine. My insurance adjuster emailed me the invoice he had and there were parts they charged for that was not on my boat. I have pictures and it’s truly incredible the amount of “do not care” that went into repairing this thing. 4 and a half months, 15.65 hours labor and almost $1100 in parts all for nothing. All that is going to cost me money out of my pocket now.

We had been looking for a couple years for the perfect center console boat for my family.
We had looked high and low for the boat that best fit us. Long and short we meet Cameron on the lot one afternoon. He and his crew took us in and treated us like family. I described what kind of boat I was looking for and he just so happened to have that perfect boat on the lot. He let me know up front if he didn't have it. He could find it and have it brought in. I cannot say enough good things about my experience at Sunrise and with Nick Bolanos. I live 7 hours away and Nick was able to put me in my new boat, add a trolling motor, and completely handle the trade in of the old boat without me having to be on the coast until I picked it up. The Boat is incredible and Nick was incredibly generous with his time as he took me out for a sea trial and taught me all the ins and outs of the new boat. Great experience and great people!!!
