We (my 72 yo husband and 68 yo me) had so much fun renting comfort electric bikes here and heading out to Lake Tahoe for the day. The bikes were VERY comfortable and the dedicated paved trails were smooth and with amazing views of the river, the lake, and the amazing Lake Tahoe homes. We brought our own picnic in our backpack which we enjoyed in the forest along the west side of the Lake Tahoe trail, then we rode into Tahoe City for garlic fries and drinks at Jake’s on the Lake. Superb! The staff here at Truckee River Bikes recommended the path for us to take. I read in another review someone complaining about their credit card being charged as a security deposit; Of course this is normal! These bikes are expensive! Once you return them, the credit card fee is reversed. Great location for bike rentals.

We had a great experience at Truckee River Bikes! The staff was incredibly friendly and helpful. They gave us the rundown on how the electric bikes worked (first time using one) and made sure we had the correct bikes for the kids bike trailer. They also helped us adjust the seats to the correct height. The store is located in a great spot for you to start your bike ride into Tahoe City and around the lake.
We really appreciate you guys and will absolutely come back on our next visit to Tahoe!

This is a full-service shop with very knowledgeable staff. From flat tires and tune-ups, to rentals and probably even full-rebuilds, if it's a bike thing you need, they can probably handle it.

When I showed up, they had a big shipment of parts, so they also have that stuff. When I rode down into Tahoe City, I met a lot of riders who rented here and were quite satisfied with those comfort Giant bikes. It's a perfect cruiser/mtb style with a downtube that makes it all easy.

Truckee River Bikes is definitely a 5-star operation! They rented me a very nice Giant e-bike and directed me to a fantastic bike path along the Truckee River. The staff was professional and friendly. They took the time to make sure I was comfortable with the bike and educated on where to ride. I will be back here again! I recommend this business without hesitation.

It was easy to park, rent and ride here. We got there when they opened and they had us on the bike path in a few minutes. Very helpful staff to review the bikes and help with our choice. From here we chose to ride along Truckee river to the west shore. It was a wonderful morning and I will definitely be back.

We (a party of six) arrived after the memorial day weekend and according to the posted hours both online and right outside the door, the shop should be open from 9 to 5. However, when we arrived at 9:30, they were barely getting set up and wanted another 15 minutes before they could help us. During this time, instead of giving us forms that may need to be signed, telling us any further information or answering our questions, they were starting to roll bikes out that did not appear to be meant for us and answering phone calls. For the record, as far as we could tell, there was no customers present at the shop besides us, and the employee was not on a call when we entered requesting rentals. We further overheard that they would be closing early and wanted rentals back at 3:30, instead of the posted and expected 4:30. Not only were we rudely not informed of this, we had to find this out indirectly.

Taken together, along with other reviews posted, while we don't think there was any racism involved, we do think this is a clear case of Hanlon's Razor, which is to never attribute to malice what can be adequately attributed to stupidity.

Instead, we happily took our cash down the street to Olympic Valley Ski and Bike, which was not only infinitely more attentive to us as customers, but also had a friendly dog to boot. And the ride through the meadow to get back to the river trail was also absolutely gorgeous, so no loss on having to travel a bit further to get what we consider to be a minimal level of courteous service.

Had an awesome experience renting bikes from Truckee River Bikes with my parents. Trails nearby are well maintained, paved and easy to ride. Beautiful views and really fun ride. If you're wondering what to do with family in Truckee/North Lake Tahoe, this is it! They were stoked.

We had a really large group so we made a reservation to ride bikes and when making the reservation everyone was super helpful and kind. Unfortunately, we did not get to experience their fabulous ebikes due to heavy smoke from a nearby fire. However, I very impressed with the manager, Matt, who was so kind and helpful!! He was extremely understanding and definitely left us excited to get back to Squaw Valley and ride their amazing bikes soon!
