I’ve actually never had such a bad experience ever and it made me so sad as I’ve always used U-Haul in the past to my moved in San Jose.

I was going to get a one way move from San Jose to San Francisco and was literally told by the staff that there is NONE available besides “Newark California” the staff that helped me (forgot his name but worked on 1/19/25), we went on a phone call hold for nearly twenty minutes only to find out that it’s Newark NEW JERSEY… I kept telling the guy that this guy called the NJ location and said it was the CA location, how are you going to sell moving rentals and not even know your own geography and rental rates?

I also wanted to speak on behalf of another guest ahead of me. Things happen and I sympathized for the staff at first, BUT supposedly the guy reserved a long distance U-Haul to Arizona and they don’t have his 15’ truck available. They wanted him to DRIVE to Salinas and drive BACK the truck after use… kind of redundant hello?

I generally always keep an optimistic mindset as working in a customer service perspective isn’t easy but the fool that helped me today literally caused so much stress and made me bawl my eyes out. The same guy said that they DO have a truck available and then we started the paperwork to rent it out under the condition that we brought it back and I thought you now what?…. I’ll just do it, seems like a cash grab on their part. I thought finally, seems like he got his act together BUT the truck he gives me has an EMPTY gas tank AND blinking indicator lights. He said it was fine because the truck turns on?… he told me to refill it and deal with it, I guess there’s no common sense.

I demanded a refund and decided to just rent out a Home Depot cargo truck and that went smoothly instead. Please stay away from this location and their incompetency.

This is my go-to spot for all my U-Haul needs. I’ve used this location about 8-9 times over the last 3 years and you can count on the staff being reliable, having a high quantity of vehicles, and easy check in/check out service.

Today I reserved a 9’ van and upon starting the pre departure inspection, the gas tank was empty. I went back to the managers inside and notified them, and they offered to fill up the tank on site so I didn’t have to go to a gas station right away. That was so courteous and extremely convenient!

Part of the downside as to why the trucks start on empty is because people come in during the night and siphon gas until the tanks are empty. I definitely appreciate that despite the daily struggle of combating trespassing issues like that, the staff are ready and willing to accommodate your needs so you’re set for your move.

Highly recommend. DeAndre is personally my fav rep there.

This location has always been my go-to for U-Haul rentals, but today was by far the worst experience I’ve had. I arrived around 10:30 AM for my truck pickup and ended up waiting over 30 minutes because there was only one worker on duty. There were two gentlemen ahead of me, so I quietly stood in line, waiting my turn.

When the worker finally returned from assisting the customer ahead of me, he completely ignored me and started helping an older gentleman who had arrived after me. When I politely pointed out that I was next in line, the worker became rude and insisted the other gentleman had been there before me and had waited for 30 minutes. I explained that I had arrived at least 10 minutes before that gentleman and had been waiting patiently for over 30 minutes as well.

Since the worker had been outside the entire time, he clearly didn’t see me waiting in line. Rather than acknowledge the misunderstanding, he chose to deliberately ignore me. I had to firmly stand my ground and insist on being helped, as I was next in line.

This kind of treatment is absolutely unacceptable, and I’m extremely disappointed in how this situation was handled.

Everything was easy. The UHaul app makes checking in and out simple. The staff were polite and made me feel good about choosing the site for pick up and drop off.

Today after getting propane the worker asked me to pay over his phone for the propane. I have him my cc and super nice guy but not sure why he used his phone for me to pay

I just want to say thanks to all the phone and in person employees. We changed around the reservation somewhat and everyone made the process seamless. The main guy who works in store was so nice in changing my reservation. Then the following day, he helped my son and I check in the vehicle quickly to make it to the airport on time when my uhaul app encountered a technical error. Thank you!!

Thieves break in to personal vehicles left in the lot. Employees know this and do not warn customers. There are no signs, cameras, security. Employees seemed sorry when I discovered my window smashed, but never said a word the previous day when I picked up the rental truck. They said it is a daily occurrence, that the rental vehicles are broken into and gas stolen, but the business owners seem to do nothing about it. I am seeking advice from my lawyer regarding this. My insurance deductible is $500- I will seek reimbursement for at least that amount, plus the pain and suffering due to not being able to lock it up for over a week due to no available appointments for glass repair. I have used this location in the past and left my car no problem. Will never use u-haul again.

This UHaul facility, has been my best UHaul experience, to date. As long as I’m in the Bay Area, this will now be my facility of choice, especially thanks to Zach, the 1st one to take care of me, on my very 1st visit. Also, his manager (Javier), also gives me great service, when Zach isn’t available.
