I visited here in November 2023 and the experience stuck with me. After paying handsomely for my car dealership to install the hitch for towing a uhaul trailer, I showed up for my appointment only to find out the dealership never installed wiring, just the hitch. I prepped carefully for the day I would pick up the trailer (I also had paperwork from the dealership stating the wiring was included) and I HAD to leave the next day, so you can imagine I was overwhelmed, exhausted and extremely upset. I cried in front of the nice guy trying to help me out, it was embarrassing. But he was super kind, professional and helped me right away without judgement. He called another location to confirm they had the wiring kit and staff available to service immediately. So I drove over to the Modesto location where they were also quick, understanding and courteous. I am so grateful for the compassion and action taken by those who helped me on the morning of November 15th. 10/10 recommend that staff get a raise.

Screwed me out of $25 for gas. I calculated my miles traveled vs. gallons I put in. If they are correct I got 5 mpg. 15' truck, on flat roads, and very light load. Impossible! Figures don't lie. They read the gas gauge wrong at pickup, not me. Following up with corporate.

Everything went well with my ubox until it was time to have them delivered. I scheduled to have them delivered on Monday, 8/14 because that was the only day that worked for me. It was confirmed two weeks in advance. Then 2 business days before they were set to arrive, I got a call saying that they would not able to fulfill that promise and my options were to have them delivered on Saturday or Tuesday. Neither of those days worked for me. I couldn't have them delivered early because I wasn't allowed; the house wasn't mine yet. I needed them on Monday and Monday only because I closed on my house and I needed to move in that day! If they were delivered on Tuesday, then I'd have to wait until the following weekend to move in, but my lease was over on my temporary house, so I HAD to move in on Monday. The people I spoke to about this were extremely unsympathetic towards the situation. They just continued to say Saturday or Tuesday, your pick. Then they cancelled the delivery all together because I said neither of those days work. So my only option was to pick them up myself. I arranged to have a truck from another company because I was so angry with U-Haul, I did not want to give them another cent. They then tried telling me I HAD to rent a U-Haul truck in order to take the boxes, which is simply not true. When I loaded them, I had a moving company pick the boxes up with their trucks; they were not U-Haul trucks. So they were just giving me a hard time for no reason at this point. I had a box truck, so I wasn't trying to tow with an SUV or anything. I was trying to tow with a vehicle meant to tow. I called U-Haul's general customer service line and she told me that any truck that can tow would be fine. On the day I arrived to pick up my boxes, the Lodi location continued to lie and say no, you can't take them with another truck.
They finally gave in after another call to corporate customer service, but they didn't even have the boxes loaded on the trailer and we arrived at 11:50 for a 12pm pick up (this pick up time was prearranged and confirmed the morning of, they were supposed to be loaded and ready to go at 12). We proceeded to wait 2 hours for them to get loaded on the trailer and "secured." When we got back to our house the ratchet strap just fell off while still in motion. We were so lucky it fell off in our driveway and not on the highway going 60mph. It literally could've killed someone. We wasted such an unnecessary amount of time due to their incompetence. We could only take two boxes to start, and they said that we couldn't take the third if we came back after 3:30. So at this point we had 1.5 hours to unload two boxes worth of stuff, and drive round trip back to this place. We pleaded with them to please stay late because it was simply not our fault that we couldn't accomplish unloading two boxes in that short of a window when they were the ones who were late getting it ready. We hurried and got back to the facility at 4:15, and they absolutely refused to let us take our third box. Which is forcing us to rent a truck AGAIN on Saturday so that we can get our final things. And we'll probably be charged another month of rent in the meantime.
This was absolutely the worst customer service I have ever received and the general manager absolutely needs to be reprimanded for this gross incompetence! She was literally just trying to make our life hard by saying we couldn't use another company's truck. It's not part of U-Haul's policy, she just decided to be mean that day because she could.

Communication from call center is not matching with the actual locations, Stockton location is the only location that made sense, Lodi told me I had to return the truck back to Stockton when I got there they said no you where supposed to leave it in Lodi, I got charged the extra miles.
The call center told me that that I had 2 days to move all I had to pay was the mileage if I went over the miles, I was expecting to pay $40 plus whatever I went over on mileage. Witch was 41 miles at. I ended up paying 144. 72 plus another 161.89 /17.39/10.95/10.77 a total of 345.72
Not what I got coded.

Scheduled an appointment online for a trailer hitch to be installed two weeks prior. This location is 40 mins out of town, but had better days of availability for my schedule. This appointment was important for a job i have scheduled later in the month. I arrived for my 4 p.m. appointment to be told their hitch guy isn't there today. Then proceeded to tell me i was supposed to drop my truck off at 7 a.m., then stated i wasn't on the router, then it was i must have just made the appointment, then a part was still on order and hadn't arrived maybe. No phone call to let me know any of this to save me a trip. I don't need much in return, but maybe a "I am really sorry that happened". I didn't get upset or act out of sorts, but just received my refund and left wondering how in the world this place runs a business.

I don’t recommend this location at all.
The guy was so rude and service was terrible.
I returned a truck after used it for 3 hours as cleaned. There was nothing inside but he charged me $25 as 03-cleaning fee intentionally. Even though when I tried to rent a truck he didn’t explain me what I asked about return processing after hours except I need to finish up on mobile and I did that but he charged me $20 as the After hour service fee. Is that making sense to you?
I had rented a truck for 23 hours but I returned it back 20 hours earlier it should be better for them could rent the truck again to the other people, isn’t it? Why he did charge me for that even I checked it out on the mobile.
Please be honest and don’t rude again your customers.
This location is a worst place that I’ve ever seen.

Quick interaction with the employee who refilled our propane tanks.

We had to wait a bit while he processed a storage transaction, but he was so nice it was no problem to wait for his chipper personality!

We have a small RV/truck camper and went here to fill our propane tanks.

It is $3.19 a gallon for propane. Not cheap, but not a terrible price for California.

Just glad the worker was nice, quick, and efficient.

Not a lot of parking available when we were there, so just know the parking area for visitors, not storage area is small. Large RVs may have trouble getting in/out or finding parking.
